On Friday, I had Korean BBQ with Joe, Angie, Dean, Kathee, Kay, Erwin, Frances, Mel, Nimz, Janice, Bellamay, Kirs, Sarah, Marites, Adrian, KD, Julian, Jay, Joyce, Cristina, Wing, Derrick and other people who I may be forgetting at the moment but will remember shortly. We surprised Kay with a going-away party before she leaves for her new life in New York as Dr. Barrera. I decided to list all the people that went because I haven't seen so many of them in so long. It's rare that we get together like that. I think it meant so much more to be because of the fact that all of these people played a huge role in my life during my time in college in one way or another. I can't possibly imagine my life without these friendships which are unique in their own ways. That night just reassured me that these friendships will last for a lifetime. What other group of people have been truly there during the lowest and highest moments of my life? I cannot wait to continue growing old with them... even though most of them are older than me ;) hehe. These people are LOVE and continue to be love to me...and that goes for Liwanag in general.

On Saturday, Alex and I headed down to SD for a family party. Little did we know that none of our cousins were going to be there. It was just us, Kuya Jimmy, our parents and our aunts and uncles. At first I was bitter because I wanted to go home and hang out with friends or something. Later, after listening to their stories (some of which made me feel incredibly awkward and uncomfortable) and cracking jokes with them, I began to realize that being in their presence is something I should not take for granted. They're the generation that we have so much to learn from. I do love my family.

After the short trip, we headed back home and I hung out with Brenton in Pasadena. We ran into Jamie and Chris lol. Then we shopped a little bit and ate at King Taco. Our hang-outs these days don't happen as often as we'd like because we're both super busy but it's nice being able to make time for each other.

On Sunday, I woke up around 5 am and then spent the entire morning at the Shrine for commencement. I got to wear a two-way radio and headset, which made me feel like a secret agent or better yet, like Chuck! It was awesome. I also was responsible for setting up, moving stanchions, and doing crowd control but the best part of the day was being able to sit backstage at the Shrine and listen to the Honorable Cantil-Sakauye, the first Filipina-American to hold the highest position in the CA Supreme Court. It was inspirational hearing her speak. It's awesome to be able to identify with someone that influential and think, "she's Filipina like me, she's a female, like me, I can do this too!" Around 12:30, graduation ended and I headed over to Joe's apt only to return to the Shrine for Kay's med school graduation. That was quite awesome too! I was able to work at a graduation and attend one on the same day. Congrats again, Dr. Kay Barrera! You are AMAZING!

This weekend reminded me of how much I have yet to accomplish but it also served as a reminder of how much I CAN accomplish as long as I set my mind to it. Thanks God for another great weekend. I'm sorry I missed church for the first time in a long time yesterday.
