I'm writing to you from the future because exactly one year ago, I was in your shoes. Since you're all nearing the end of your journey through college and since it's almost been a year since I ended mine, I thought I'd write a letter to you collectively. First of all, congratulations! You are weeks away from wearing that cap & gown and earning your well-deserved degree. You've come so far and although it seems like only yesterday, you have worked tirelessly since day 1 to reach this finish line; to achieve this ultimate goal of yours so please dwell and bask in this moment before it slips through your fingers. That sense of accomplishment that you experience during your college graduation is once-in-a-lifetime and incomparable so enjoy it and be proud of what you've accomplished. Finishing college is a big deal and although you may not realize it, Bachelor's Degrees are not entirely as common in the real world as we once assumed. Wear that 2010 tassel with pride and know that in this moment, you are INVINCIBLE and the world is in your hands... the world is your oyster! Don't be so easily discouraged by the naysayers and non-believers who are quick to criticize and say that you can't do something or tell you that you're not going to make it. Acknowledge the obstacles and challenges that are before you but don't get weighed down by them. Do not let your fears, doubts and insecurities get in the way of your potential or more importantly, do not let them get in the way of your dreams. DREAM BIG and then plan accordingly. Turn those "can'ts" into "can's" and try to find that glimmer of hope when things don't go your way because unfortunately, life will not always be sympathetic toward your individual plights. Life will still throw curve balls at you when you're not looking so be ready to tackle and confront whatever comes your way. Don't fall into a pit of despair over not being able to find a job or get into grad school right off the bat because let's face it, these days, nothing comes easy. Keep at it. Continue to work towards your goals because even though you may not reach them today or tomorrow, you will reach them eventually. Don't expect opportunities to fall into your lap. Seek out those opportunities. Sometimes you can't rely on things to happen, you've got to take things into your own hands and make them happen. You are well-equipped for life after college! BELIEVE IT. Don't approach the job hunt with a sense of entitlement but do approach it with confidence. The best weapons for fighting those post-grad blues are Faith, Family and Friends...and a sense of humor.

I'm sure that at this very moment you are trying your best to soak up all the fun times you can and hang out with as many people as you can before you "leave", as you should. There is no day but today and unfortunately for many of us, it's something that we realize a little too late. Right now, the reality of "life after college" is beginning to hit you like a ton of bricks. You're overwhelmed with questions and seeking answers. Don't worry yourself too much over finding the answers to those questions. If there's one thing I learned recently it's that everything happens in it's own time. Be patient and trust in Him. Oh the places you'll go... and He'll be the one to help get you there. Prayers & Love always.

P.S. One last piece of advice that I wished I gave myself... "you'll survive."

In the midst of all the blessings & gifts that He has bestowed upon me lately, I need to remember that I wouldn't be here if it weren't for Him. I must not lose sight of what's important. I still need You in my life.

This weekend was a blast! Granted, I had to pick and choose between important events but everything worked out in the long run. Unfortunately I missed my cousin Rikki's grad lunch and my brother's last PCN but I will definitely be making it up to the both of them soon. I also spent way too much money this weekend but it was worth it! haha On Friday night, I hung out with Gen. We had sushi @ Ichiban again, caught up and went to Target as usual haha. I also went card shopping. It was fun though! Saturday morning I work up bright and early and Brenton and I headed to Chapman for Meechy's graduation ceremony! She has her Master's Degree! Woohoo Meechy :) I'm so proud of you and by the way, I think I'd wanna be a panther too. Your campus is beautiful! It was also a mini class of 06 reunion! Angie, Joe, Dean, Kathee & Cressa were all there! It was nice seeing them all again...especially Dean & Kathee who I hadn't seen in forever! I miss you guys! I'm glad I got to see you for a little bit. After Meechy's graduation, Joe, Dean, Kathee, Angie, Brenton and I went to eat at the Filling Station, which was pretty good. We even ran into Rica & Leo who bought us Mimosas :) After we said our goodbyes, Brenton and I went to Jem & Huan's baby shower and I got to catch up with even more LOG'ers! It was a beautiful day, the perfect day to spend at the park and btw if I ever got a dog, I would want one like KD's (and Julian's), Pixie is so cute!

After that, I ended an amazing day with an incredibly AMAZING CONCERT with my fellow gleek and teenybopper Gia! GLEE LIVE WAS SO UNBELIEVABLY GOOD THAT IT DESERVES A SEPARATE PARAGRAPH!!!! But seriously, I've been to quite a few concerts in my day (haha) and I have to say that this might have topped the cake in being the most feel-good concert I've ever been to. It was jam-packed with songs back to back. Aside from it being too short (because I wish it could've lasted longer), it was just so good and so simple. There weren't any crazy special effects or anything but the whole cast sang so well, even better than they do on TV! Their vocals were amazing and they put on a great show. People were literally out of their seats the entire time. Nobody had to tell us to get up! That's how good it was. Parents, kids and people of all ages and generations were there. Thank you Glee for bringing back old songs and bridging the gap, somewhat. We sat next to this mom who brought her 3 daughters... who were also already concert veterans at their age (having seen Miley Cyrus, Jonas Bros and Ashley Tisdale in concert!) haha. They reminded me so much of myself. Her 13 year old teenage daughter sat 2 rows behind us because her mom embarrassed her. It was funny.

Anyway, although I didn't get a free sue sylvester barf bag (darn kids who ran up to the front), I did impulsively buy a poster and a glee shirt. I'm kind of regretting the poster now but whatever. That always happens to me at concerts. I think Gia and I went a little too concert-happy because she made some impulsive purchases as well (sorry I didn't help you out there lol). I took more video than I did pictures. I also fell in love with Finn and Puck again! AHHHHHHHH!!!! After the concert, I saw my cousin Rikki and I also saw Jeannie (who got to touch Finn and Puck!) and we met up with Julian and KD. I wish they would do another tour. I would so go again and this time save up for even better seats! haha :D

I am such a teenybopper and I think that the only people I know who probably are just as crazy as I am are Gia & Gen hahah, my go-to teenybopper friends.

Today I went to mass with my brother and mom and I watched some of his videos from PCN. He was sooooooo goood! I feel bad I missed it but I am such a proud sister! I need to start making his p-grad ad! I also went to do errands with my mom and then had a late dinner with Brenton! One more month and then it'll be 3 years?! :O CRAZY!

Alright, I'm trying as hard as I can to avoid ending this amazing weekend but I can no longer do so. It's time to face the facts: tomorrow is Monday and I have work. NOOOOOOOOOOO!!! If this is adulthood, it's no fun. But no complaints on my part. Thanks God for a great weekend leading into what will hopefully be an even greater week + long weekend!

P.S. remind me to tell you about my potential ticket... that'll be the topic of my next entry.

Good night!

I wanna fly I wanna drive I wanna go
I wanna be a part of something I don’t know
And if you try to hold me back I might explode
Baby by now you should know...

So I watched that Miley Cyrus performance of "Can't Be Tamed" and it was eerily reminiscent of Britney Spears' "Overprotected" circa 2001. I was a huge Britney fan growing up. When I heard "Overprotected" for the first time I thought to myself, "this song is about me; this is MY anthem" (well, that song in addition to "Not a girl, not yet a woman.") I loved her in spite of criticisms from naysayers who claimed that her image was too provocative & risque and the fact that she was out there flaunting her then-gorgeous body & mid-riff that sparked envy in young girls everywhere. I loved her confidence, her music, her style, and not to mention her hot boyfriend (haha). Then she got pregnant with two kids, got married and divorced to more than 1 guy, suffered from a mental breakdown and shaved her head, etc. etc. Oh a day in the life of a fallen pop star.

However, for some reason I can't say the same for Miley. No offense to anyone who loves her, but I am not fond of Miley Cyrus. Despite her many similarities to Britney Spears (excluding the marriages, divorces, babies & breakdowns), I just can't seem to find a reason to like her. Don't get me wrong, I love "Party in the USA" and "The Climb" just as much as the next teenybopper but there's just something about her that rubs me the wrong way. Today I realized that part of the reason I don't like Miley Cyrus is that I can't identify with her. At 23, I no longer identify with what many generally describe as the tumultuous "storm and stress" phase of adolescence (not to say that everyone has to experience that in the first place). I no longer feel the need or urgency to break away & find myself. I no longer feel as though the world is against me or that the world revolves around me and my problems. In fact, I realized that as you get older, life becomes less about you and more about the people around you and more about the people you care about. Listening to the lyrics of "Can't be Tamed" and watching Miley perform this particular song looks a little ridiculous to me now... it looks to me like a cry for attention, which I feel is what many teens desire: to be looked at and treated like an adult. She says she can't be tamed right now but give her some time and I'm sure that when she hits her late 20's, early 30's, she'll settle down like the rest of us.

But for now, I will cut Miley some slack, she's young, she's relatively pretty :P, and she's got a lot going for her right now, so she should definitely live it up and enjoy her youth. After all, she is to this generation of teens what Britney & Christina were to us when we were 13 year olds. I won't take it away from her, especially since she's still got a few good years left in her.

I've dug myself into quite a big hole this weekend, more specifically this Saturday... the day when everything is happening: 2 graduation parties, baby shower in Irvine, my brother's last ever PCN, and the Glee concert at 8pm that night... to top it off, apparently I am working that morning as well...so I really have to figure things out. The one thing I'm going to for sure on Saturday is the Glee concert lol. That is my dilemma of the moment.

This weekend was much needed after my crazy Friday! I helped out at graduation and other than the fact that the lights I was placed in charge of that night went out in the middle of the graduation in front of 2000 people, it was fine. Stressful but fine. That was one embarrassing minute or so. I had to run across the ballroom to turn the touch screen lights back on. Also, my coworker's 13 year old son is a bit on the annoying side. Are all 13 year olds like that?! He would ask me the same question a million times and also kept complimenting my outfit. Luckily I got to sleep in the next morning because I didn't have work. Then I finally took my car to get an oil change and we went to my cousin's graduation party. I keep getting teased about having a boyfriend. I'M 23 YEARS OLD! Sometimes I hate Filipino family parties for this reason. Speaking of boyfriend, I got to hang out with Brenton this weekend too!

Yes I still watch OTH and I must say that man, this season finale was sooooooo GOOD! AHHHHH I screamed out loud while watching it. I'm hoping they don't cancel it and considering the number of cliffhangers, I'm pretty sure they're not going to.

GLEE tomorrow! and GLEE CONCERT this Saturday. Woohooo.

Other than that, my life is pretty boring haha. Another week of work... but also another paycheck waiting for me at the end of the week.

I'm so glad I took time out to sort through the mess on my desk and clean my room. It made my transition into the work week much easier.

Also, what is up with this weather?!

Good night friends!

I'm getting into the swing of things at work. It's just all so tiring. I'm doing a million different things every day: doing my regular weekly time-consuming projects (data entry for externship timesheets), picking up phone calls & calling grads about graduation, helping students who come into the office with their letters of enrollment & health screening, proctoring for 3 days this week, attending staff meetings (3 of them this week alone!), helping out the other departments with small projects like teacher's appreciation week, and so much more! Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful for all of these things because they make time go by faster. At the end of the day, I have no idea where the day went. I love the night shift because it's a lot slower than the day shift. I've been meeting new people and understanding and witnessing company politics firsthand. I guess those things exist in any company you work for. However, I've been really blessed with my department and with my boss: they are the most hardworking, honest, helpful, genuine, supportive, encouraging & understanding group of people ever. They remind me so much of my old coworkers in Irvine, whom I miss and love as well. As long as the people that I work most closely with are supportive and kind, then that's all I need to get by.

I've also been learning how to work with other people, be it coworkers, the higher-up's, or students. I'm a little nervous for tomorrow: proctoring twice in one day by myself (I messed up a bit this afternoon :X), and the all-staff meeting when 100 staff members are gonna be in one room to discuss what's new and also it's a way to introduce the new members to the team, including myself. It's practically a "welcome to the family" type icebreaker... I thought those ended in college. Yay.

Anyway, I'm getting really sleepy now so I think I'm gonna go to sleep. I miss a lot of people.

P.S. Happy 23rd Birthday Bellamay! I LOVE YOU! Hope you had a great day. Sorry we didn't get to surprise you at midnight.

This weekend was just what I needed to end the week. Praise God for quality time with family and friends. Although I didn't get to spend as much time with friends as I wanted to, it was good to just see them and catch up even for a second.

On Friday night, I went to Father's Office with a few old friends, surprisingly watched some of the Laker game, and then had some gelato. By the way, for those of you who haven't been to Father's Office before, you should totally try their burger. It's one of my favorites, despite being overpriced. Their burger & sweet potato fries are awesome!

I woke up early on Sat. morning to go to work and did some overtime at the Open House. It went by quickly and I got to leave at 12 instead of 1 (and I also got paid 4 hours overtime). When I got home, I realized it wasn't too late to go to Spirit Rally. Originally, I didn't plan on going because my cousin's engagement party was that same night. I told my mom I wanted to go and sort of cried because I couldn't go lol. Anyway Brenton offered to give me a ride to Spirit Rally and since we were both heading to the Walnut/Pomona area, offered to drop me off at my cousin's fiancee's parents' house. Thanks man. Although I didn't get to stay for the whole time, I was able to participate in Praise&Worship and do ACTION SONGS, see my LOG friends, and attend my family party. It was a great great day. I love my friends, my family, Liwanag, & GOD.

Today we went to mass and ate at Olive Garden. I love weekends like these. I only wish I could see my LoG friends more often but I can't complain. AWESOME job last night LoG!!! Great Spirit Rally! and I'm so very proud of those 2010'ers, 2011'ers, my freshies of 2012, and the newest LOG class of 2013. Keep spreading that light!

Btw, if anyone needed convincing as to how big of a Laker family my family is... last night I found out my cousin's wedding motif colors are purple and gold... they had purple and gold m&ms with their faces on it. My brother's a groomsmen and he is now excited to get his suit lol.
