This has been quite the weekend. Yesterday was spent in the confines of my room, reading 2 books in one sitting and catching up on the other things that I hadn't read before. I'm pretty much caught up with HumCore except for the last part of Equiano. That book is such a pain to read. I stayed home the entire day. It was fun. I guess. Well it was fun after my brother got home because then I had someone to talk to haha.

Today I overslept again. My dad and brother went to the 8 o clock mass and my mom and I went to the 11 o clock mass. It's always the same priest who says basically the same thing all the time. Is it wrong if I don't really like his homilies? I'm sorry. When we were leaving I ran into my old IHM classmate, Janice. She goes to CSULA now. We talked for a little bit and then I went to do errands with my mom. At Staples, we ran into my old IH classmate Jasmine! I hadn't seen her since graduation. I can't believe it's almost been a year. Then we went to Vons to get food and water and the cashier lady started talking to us in Spanish until I finally stopped her and said that we didn't speak Spanish. The only word that I caught in that conversation was levantar. She apologized and then explained that we didn't have to take the pack of waterbottles out of the shopping cart. Weird. And while we were waiting in line to pay, I took that bar thing that separates your groceries from the groceries of the person in front of you and I placed it on the conveyer belt. Then the cranky old man in front of us with bad odor grunted and got angry at me putting in on there. Apparently it was hazardous to his newly bought flowers. He didn't have to be mean about it. It's not like I purposely wanted to ruin the flowers by placing the bar strategically on top of them because I didn't. Oh well. I just didn't say anything and hid behind my mom hahah.

So that was my weekend in a nutshell. Nothing too exciting. I find it funny how I can tell whether the Lakers are losing or winning according to whether I hear my dad or not. Right now, I'm assuming that they are not losing because my dad hasn't cussed or yelled. It's quiet and calm. Sigh. I have other things to do before I go back to Irvine so I guess I better get started on them. I have two midterms next week. Hip hop on Wednesday and HumCore on Friday.

Okay so what happens if you were friends with someone for a long time, like most of your life, and you were really close and then all of a sudden you've stopped talking to each other completely and it's not like you had a fight or anything but you've just grown apart? I think I'm experiencing that and I find myself involved in this constant inner struggle about whether or not to initiate a conversation with this person even though I know that it would be guaranteed to bring about awkward silences and uncomfortable moments. I don't know. I hope that the next time we see each other, it won't be so bad and that things will sort of get back to normal between us.

This weekend, Alex created his UCLA email account and of course joined facebook. It's weird especially for our friend details because it says, "You are Alexander's sister" haha. It's even weirder how it says, UCLA '10. That means we're not first years anymore.

Today would've been my lola's 97th birthday if she were still here. It's been almost 10 years since she passed away. Please pray for her soul too. Thanks!

Oh no. They're losing. He just hit the bed and yelled "COME ON!" and uttered a bad word ahahah. That's my dad for you. Okay enjoy the rest of your weekend everyone. Prayers for everyone especially Jonas :)

Remind me never to be at home for a laker game again... such a rollercoaster of emotions. I worry sometimes lol.

Home sweet home! I'm back in L.A. for the weekend and it feels good. Sigh. I feel like I can just let go of all my worries and rest. I should be sleeping right now but I'm determined to blog every day for a week.

I liked the car ride home. It was a good hour's worth of conversation with my mom :) I miss those. When I got back, my dad was watching the laker game and bugging me about not watching it with him. Alex wasn't even home... apparently he was out with friends AGAIN. And now that we're all actually here, the three of them are fast asleep and I'm still stuck in school mode by practicing my nocturnal sleeping patterns when I could seriously be fast asleep. Ugh.

This quarter was supposed to be easy but it seems like it's one of the first times where I have no control of my grades whatsoever. The procrastination has got to stop. I need to stay focused and "get my head in the game" haha. But I really do! So I declare this weekend, catch-up weekend. I will do all my homework and read everything I didn't read tomorrow and on Sunday! Yes I will.

Anyway, congratulations to Andrea, the new IH Student Campus Minister and Jessica, the new Student Liturgy Coordinator! I knew them when they were just freshmen and now they're seniors! It's crazy how time flies. I can't believe it's gonna be week 5. I'm not ready to move out of Vista just yet. I wish I could stay a first year sometimes... it's more convenient that way. Not to mention that I have no idea what I'm gonna be "when I grow up."

I so won today!
?: Yeah when I was in high school, not a lot of people had aim
Me: Wasn't that a long time ago?

YES! I'm proud of myself. HAHAHA. I used a question mark to protect the identity of the person who LOST to me =p

Well, this marks a year since I made my college decision. Here's a portion from my old journal entry written on April 29, 2005 (a day before the college decision date):
"To top it off, I made my decision. It's UCI once and for all, the environment, cost, and feel of the campus was more appealing than the teacher to student ratio at LMU. I can only hope that it's the right choice. I followed my heart and that's all I asked for."

It's funny how things work themselves out for the best. One year later, I can honestly say I don't regret my decision at all. This also marks a year since I lost my navy blue IH parka. Unfortunately that has never been found. I would've gotten quite a bit of money if I hadn't lost it and instead sold it to the school. Oh well.

Here's a heart to heart with my dad:
dad: liza, the lakers won!!
me: okay cool
dad: why are you like that? appreciate the lakers! be happy!

lol he's weird.

So my mom's working today and my brother has class from 9am-4pm. It's practically a weekday in this house which means more motivation for getting my work done.

I guess I'll add on to this later onnnnn. Have a fun and safe weekend everyone! I'm praying for you all. Also please continue praying for my aunt who's really sick. Thanks :)

Yay! My very first late night post... or at least I think it is. This counts for Friday because it is around 2 in the morning, hence it is a new day. Don't worry, although the day hasn't officially started, I have stories to tell and I'm very awake because I am still working on my essay. I'm a slow worker... at least I'm on the concluding paragraph? Thanks to everyone who prayed for me tonight and to everyone who helped me with my essay including Rose, Avi, Brenton, and Flo. I have no one to blame for this but myself and now it is 2:38 am and I am delirious but not sleepy.
I've decided that I like blogging late at night because it's not like I have to get ready for class or anything so I can just slow down and take my time or not.

I should sleep soon though... I'm getting weirder than I already am. Sample conversation:

g (2:28:28 AM): is bernie still awake?
annanymouslizard (2:28:29 AM): and that was the end of that
annanymouslizard (2:28:30 AM): yeah
annanymouslizard (2:28:31 AM): LOL
g (2:28:31 AM): hahaha omg
annanymouslizard (2:28:43 AM): shes lying on her bed in her clothes from earlier today
g (2:28:52 AM): lool
annanymouslizard (2:30:59 AM): lol
g (2:31:12 AM): party in bernie and annas dorm lool
annanymouslizard (2:31:20 AM): LOOL no we're going delirious
annanymouslizard (2:31:28 AM): she called me a hip hop sinob
annanymouslizard (2:31:34 AM): combo of snob/cinema
g (2:31:37 AM): looool
annanymouslizard (2:31:38 AM): LOL
annanymouslizard (2:32:13 AM): LOOOOOOL
annanymouslizard (2:32:28 AM): jk! she just said "i didn't say that! i said snob... sinobs all you"
annanymouslizard (2:32:31 AM): IM DELIRIOUS
annanymouslizard (2:32:32 AM): jk
g (2:32:36 AM): hahahh
annanymouslizard (2:32:38 AM): WHY ME?!
annanymouslizard (2:32:39 AM): hahahaha
g (2:32:54 AM): wellllll
annanymouslizard (2:33:14 AM): LOL
annanymouslizard (2:33:18 AM): dont answer that
g (2:33:19 AM): iii thought SINOBS meant ALL YOU in some kinda different interesting language just now
g (2:33:20 AM): looool
annanymouslizard (2:33:23 AM): it was rhetorical

Name protected for privacy purposes but if you really know me, you'd know who this person was lol. As you can see, I'm not exactly the most alert person in the world. My cerebellum is even worse when I lack sleep. Good thing I don't have class till 11 tomorrow.

I just had a funny convo with one of my Vista hallmates. I'd say his name but I don't wanna embarrass him. He was asking me about Hip Hop cinema and I told him that I watched Scarface on Wednesday. He then proceeded to recite the line, "say hello to my little friend" (with the accent) and then exclaimed "that movie is the hip hop bible." He's funny. That entertained me for a while.

It sucks not having a computer mouse. My hands hurt from having to move the arrow around on my own.

"yo' momma" :)

So I finished the essay. It sucks but you know what? I don't care. I hate procrastination. Remind me to never do it again! I can't wait to go home this weekend. It's much needed! I don't even know what I'm saying anymore. When the oldies sign off of aim before me, that's how you know it's late. Ugh 2:57 am! I'm going to sleep now. This is done!

AND I just hit my knee against my desk. That hurt :( another bruise! fun.

So I'm wondering if GP's offer for giving me 7 cookies if I blog for an entire week still stands because as of right now, I think the chances of me actually blogging every day are pretty good (that sounds weird but I don't know what word to use in place of good because of my lack of sophisticated vocabulary). Anyway, I really hope I do blog for an entire week because I only have ABOUT 5 more weeks of school, I think, and it would be nice if I had a lot of first year entries to look back on. Yeah, I think ahead like that.

What happens at the Del Taco table stays at the Del Taco table. Thanks for not spilling the beans Kathee lol.

I'm seriously missing home right now! Because first of all, not only am I low on supplies... (I ran out of water bottles, my printer is out of both colored and black ink, I have no more snacks whatsoever (except a tiny pack of Ritz crackers but does that really qualify as a snack?), my computer mouse doesn't work because the two double A batteries that are inside of them are dead and I thought I had extra batteries but I don't, and I need more soap and paper towels) but I also miss my family. I miss talking to my brother who is currently experiencing senioritis but still continues to sleep at 11pm (how does he do his homework? more importantly WHEN does he do it?), I miss my dad getting all emotional and crazy over his laker games (even though I'm a disappointment to L.A. because of my lack of enthusiasm for them), and I miss my mom's cooking and weird stories (she always manages to come up with random ones). It's not that I'm even homesick because I've gotten used to living in the dorms. It's just that I miss things.

I miss my old friends too. I hope everyone's doing okay. I haven't been that great of a friend or at least I think I could be better. I'm praying for them though. I know a lot of them have been going through some tough times lately and all I can really do is listen and pray. Sometimes I feel bad though because I don't know if I'm actually helping them :/ I hope I am. Trust.

I'm a little jealous of my friends who are ending school soon as in "May" soon and are therefore going back to L.A. and having reunions without me. Hopefully people pull through with their visits to Irvine. May 5th-7th is IHHS's centennial weekend. I don't know if I can make it. I have to pay 50 bucks just to go and I don't know if my other friends are going... would attending the Alumnae reunion be weird if we barely graduated less than a year ago? Maybe Tyra Banks is gonna be there like she told me she would last summer when I saw her at the Santa Anita mall and she was wearing her class ring. Maybe Lucille Ball's daughter is gonna be there too since I always happen to miss her visits. Who knows? I can't go to Mary's Day this year :( I have class from 9am-3pm that Friday... that means no verbal collage, lawn dance, crowning of Mary, potluck, and setting the theme for me. I'm going to be at Irvine that weekend too. Ugh.

I should be doing my rhetorical essay right now but I'm not because instead I am blogging just so that I can blog every single day. This entry is again more of me thinking out loud hence the lack of substance.

I missed my last hall bonfire last night. I went to dinner with some of them around 7:30 and then we went back to the dorms and I decided to lie on my bed for a while and before I knew it, it was like 10:45 and I missed it. I was so sleepy though. Then last night I slept from 1:40 or 1:50 and I woke up around 8:50. I'd calculate how many hours of sleep I got but I'm lazy so I won't. I despise math anyway.

Abby mentioned in her blog,
"I’m scared that when I reach for the cookie jar on the top shelf, I’ll lose my footing on the chair that’s helping me get closer to that precious cookie jar."
And I agree with her... it's a good quote (not just because of the cookie reference).

Why is it that other people who have more reasons to not be able to trust in Him than I do, seem to trust in Him more? I've been struggling with this feeling for a while. Everything that the speaker said during CFC-Youth's praisefest was true for me. I have trouble accepting the gift of faith in my life. I create for myself all this extra baggage to carry around and by doing so, prevent myself from receiving Him, from embracing Him. My fear of saying "yes" has often hindered me from taking advantage of the opportunities that have been presented to me. But now that I look back on my first year of college, I've been realizing the tiny things that I've said "yes" to and I think that these "yes's" have lead me even closer to Him. I said "yes" to UCI when my heart was torn between it and LMU and I think that's been one of my greatest "leaps of faith" so far. I'm grateful that I trusted in Him enough to choose to go here despite my doubts. I'm on the road to improving and strengthening my faith. The speaker talked about how other people's faith strengthens your own and nowadays I find it completely true. I have so many role models of faith / "heroes" to look up to and I can only hope to achieve the faith that they've found in Him by letting go and letting God.

Give us the courage and strength to accept You, to embrace You, to grow in Your love, to be reflections of You, and to truly follow You. Help us to look beyond our flaws and allow us to see ourselves the way that You see us… as beautiful children of God, made in Your likeness.

"Classic" moment:
Me: Now I feel like I should say that ***** and *** are my heroes.
Bernie: No!! you'll regret it!
Me: Why?
Bernie: Because then they'll say something mean and then you'll be like 'why did I say that?!"

hahah that's sort of true. If you think you deserve to be called my heroes then you have to leave a comment and say why hahahaha and you owe me a cookie.

Thanks for reading my boring blog. I hope it was somewhat entertaining. I now have to write a 4-6 page essay on Equiano. Why me? I need to finish this dumb essay to get to the weekend. Prayers please. Bye! (no I'm not waving at the computer screennnnnnn).

P.S. I've been awake for the past hour and all I've done is blog. AHHHH! Give me back my hour!!

It's pretty sad how I've gone from receiving the "blogger of the week" award from Kathee to completely neglecting my blog and being called out for not blogging. I'm sorry. I hope you find it in your hearts to forgive me. I've been busy. I'm still busy but I thought this would be a good way to kill the hour or so left I have before class.

I fell yesterday at NACS while climbing up the stairs... it wasn't even a huge flight of stairs, just 3 steps. I don't know how it happened. I need a new cerebellum haha. Good thing no one was there to witness it, otherwise THAT would've been embarrassing.

I had filipino food twice yesterday too! Tosino and adobo at Kathy's dorm and then spamsilog (thanks angie!)...good stuff. I wanna go home just so I can eat.

Yay for saying "yes" last night :)

So much awkwardness. I joined this facebook group called "soo...this is really awkward." I like saying that even when it's not awkward because it makes it awkward and now I'm just typing nonsense.

We learned a little about epinephrine during brain dysfunction... but we didn't learn enough about it for me to explain why I have to inject myself with an epi-pen if I ever experience an allergic reaction to peanuts. But the fact that it's called an epi-pen makes sense now (epinephrine-pen? well that's MY guess). Just thought I'd blog about that for those of you who are so curious and "worried" about the state of my health and allergies.

I really wanted to post a serious entry but now I feel like I can't because this entry was completely random. Ugh.

So I'm feeling really sleepy. I can't hang. I don't wanna sleep late anymore. It's bad. I'm getting eyebags. Not good. I plan on sleeping early tonight... but I say that every night, hopefully I follow through with it.

As for my progress in answering my phone...I only have FOUR recorded missed calls. That's it. My dialed and answered calls outnumber the missed calls so I'd say that I've been pretty good at answering my phone contrary to popular belief.

I also thought it was the beginning of the week today... doing laundry yesterday threw me off.

A couple people barely found out I was entirely filipino yesterday. I thought they knew, apparently not.

Last night I had a dream and my RA was in it and he was knocking on people's doors and telling them whether they failed or not... something about not being on the list and I'm assuming it was the dean's list. I don't know. All I know is that he congratulated me and said I didn't fail. Hopefully that's in reference to my grades this quarter and not some deeper hidden meaning that has nothing to do with my grades because really, I'm more worried about my grades this time around.

I feel guilty a lot. I think I need to go home and think and talk to people.

Ok that's it for now. I feel better now that I've blogged hahaha that's pathetic.

I'll blog again...
in due time.

This weekend involved studying for a difficult midterm that I have to take tomorrow, doing an essay that's due tomorrow, and finishing homework that's due today.

At least going to Wayzgoose helped me save a meal.

I'm sorry for not blogging for the past two days. I'll make a long entry to make up for it later... maybe.

I'm SO sleepy and I have such a long day ahead of me. I have class until 7! ugh. and then I actually have to read because I haven't done all of it. I'm gonna try really hard to finish all of my homework tonight so that tomorrow I won't have to do much because my friends might come to visit.

Ok longer entry later. I gotta get ready for class. Bye!

Edit @ 2:25pm
Please pray for my dad. He got food poisoning?/poisoned? I never know how to put that into words lol. Anyway yeah I thought this was funny, not the food poisoning but the way my brother said it online.

alex (2:20:18 PM): uh oh dad vomited hold on

I don't exactly know WHY i'm sharing this with blogger hahah. That's a little too much information. I'm sorry. I'm supposed to write about something else but I'm not in the mood to write right now. I'm tired.

annanymouslizard (2:15:18 PM): did too! times infinity forever no returns
TM pinay G I A (2:15:39 PM): well i didnt get it times infinity forever no returns on your returns loool

FEAR keeps coming back to me. This quarter seems to be all about it and I will write about this idea as soon as I get the time.

So far I've read a mere 30 pages of the Interesting Narrative of the Life of Olaudah Equiano and I'm getting sleepy so it's off to blogger I go. Besides, GP called me out and I'm trying to blog as often as he does... it's an even exchange since it gives both of us something to read. Myspace and facebook do take up a lot of my time though so blogging daily is getting harder haha. GP should blog TWICE today since i blogged twice yesterday, it's only fair.

Besides me "dying" yesterday, nothing too interesting has been happening. My hallmates are going to get some coldstone tonight and they said they'd get me some :) Yum! I wish I could go too though but it's okay.

janice (2:42:59 PM): do u have a BOYFRIEND anna
janice(2:43:01 PM): yet?
janice (2:43:03 PM): hhaahahaha
annanymouslizard (2:43:04 PM): no
annanymouslizard (2:43:05 PM): lol
janice (2:43:07 PM): why not
janice (2:43:16 PM): go guy hunting
annanymouslizard (2:43:22 PM): hahaha
janice (2:43:23 PM): put some EFFORT into it
janice (2:43:24 PM): hhaahah
janice (2:45:19 PM): hahah dont FEAR
janice (2:45:21 PM): LOCVe
janice (2:45:22 PM): LOVE
janice (2:45:24 PM): hahahHAHHAHAHHAHAHA

Janice Cho is a weird little girl. Ugh. She used my info against me. To be teased by people older than me is one thing... to be teased by a high school junior is another. So annoying! Look at all her typos. That's the all-girls school education for you haha. But not really so don't judge Immac by Janice please.

Over the weekend, my friend Gen who I've known since kindergarten jokingly told me that I was mean and that kinda hurt because I'm usually the person picked on... I'm not mean lol. Just because I made one little comment a few months ago when I said that i wasn't gonna go to one of my friend's weddings if she ends up getting married to this lame guy. He's not right for her! If you knew the whole story, you'd agree. Anyway back to being mean, so like at one point in my life Gen made me hold her waterbottle for her during lunch for an entire year because she didn't want to and I actually did hold it! see how nice and passive I was. PLUS I was the kid who got bullied (only by this one girl whose name will not be mentioned because I'm afraid she might read this)... I was never the bully. Yeah the bully that I saw at jollibee over the weekend. It's such a coincidence that I saw her. My mom even told me to pray the rosary for her when I was in the third grade because she was THAT mean. All my other old classmates can attest to that. She still holds grudges too. Yeah I know this was random but since I haven't done anything today I thought it'd be a good way to fill space.

Anyway it's back to Equiano because I need to do my pre-writing grid soon. I actually need to finish all my homework and you're distracting me so goodbye.

really. ugh. What sucks the most is that I put so much effort into dodging him only to find out that I would be responsible for killing myself. I practically ran to class after I got a prank call from my killer trying to get me to say book but I didn't because I knew it was him. So today after Hip Hop Cinema which ended around 6, Avi called me to warn me that Roger would be waiting for me after class. Luckily class ended earlier than 7 so I went to eat at B-wine with Kathy. After bwine, we went to her dorm and "studied" but instead went on myspace and facebook hahah. Around 7:40 we left and I headed back to Mesa and called Toni so that she could accompany to Vista or show me the way to get to the first floor secret entrance. I went on a mini tour of Estrella and hung out with Toni and her friends. Then we all went to Vista and used the second floor entrance because Roger wasn't there. We went up to my dorm and found my ninja-er. And the rest is history...

Roger: Man Anna just give up so I can kill Victor
Me: I'll think about it.
Roger: You should
Me: You're the one who called me earlier today huh?
Roger: No that wasn't me that was Marc, ask him
Me: No that was you.
Roger: No it wasn't!
Me: Yes it was!
Roger: It was Marc!
Me: So was it really Marc? Did he really need to borrow my book?!

CRAP I SAID THE WORD ON MY OWN! It's so dumb. I'm too trusting. I knew he called why did I just give in and believe that someone else might've called instead?? I think the fact that he might have needed my book made me sympathetic and ask that question. No one else witnessed it except for me and Roger and we're going by the "honor system" so I had to give it to him. I could see his frustration. Ugh. I'm partially relieved that I don't have to sneak in and out of the dorm anymore but I'm really sad that I caused my own death! I knew the word thing would kill me because I was so good at avoiding being socked. Then, a few moments later, he went up to Ellen and Iris' room to tell the story. Sarah (who's supposed to kill him) asked him what happened. He turned towards Ellen to tell the story and let's just say that once he retold it, he said book too and Sarah got him. Karma... it happens. And the moral of the story is... don't believe what people say when you know they're lying... it's happened to me one too many times this quarter... whether it was a stupid frog balloon or coming out of the closet or being emo... you think I would've learned my lesson by now.

Anyway that's all. I wanted to blog before I really hit the books, which I will do right about now. I hate myspace and facebook. They waste my time.

Someone has anger management problems and it isn't me and chances are, it's probably not you either.

This ninja thing causes unnecessary stress and anxiety. Little by little my friends are getting ninja'ed. I fear that my day is coming soon. My luck better not be running out or I will be extremely sad. The guys are way too into it.

While walking back from class today, Flo got ninja'ed by Sea. She screamed. I even screamed and when I actually scream that's how you know it was scary and sudden because my reflexes are usually slow. That's pretty pathetic that I screamed when someone else got socked. I don't feel like going outside now. "You're next!" *hits wall*

I'm sorry for not being as cool as gp and failing to blog everyday. I've gone back to myspace and facebook. That's where my loyalties lie hahaha jk. But yesterday I stayed up until 12 o clock am just to log on. I spent 2 hours on myspace and facebook and ended up oversleeping. Instead of going to the 8 o clock Easter Sunday mass at the cathedral, we went to IHM's youth mass at 9:30 am instead.

"Hymns of praise then let us sing, Alleluia! Unto Christ, our heav'nly King, Alleluia!
Who endured the cross and grave, Alleluia!
Sinners to redeem and save, Alleluia!"

The IHM choir still sings the exact same songs that we sang when I was a part of it. It was so weird being back there for the Easter mass. From kinder-8th grade I usually did something for that mass whether it was reading, singing in the choir, or liturgical dancing... now it's all these little kids, most of whom I don't even recognize. Speaking of recognize, one of the little girls that used to be in like the 2nd grade when I was an 8th grader saw me and smiled at me and then ran away. I don't know how old she is now...7th grader? perhaps. And then there's this one girl who's an 8th grader now... I knew her when she was just a baby. Anyway she has EMO HAIR now. It's annoying. These kids... they think they know but they have no idea. I know that people say the same about me but the reassuring part is that I KNOW that I have a long way to go and a lot more to learn so in that sense, I acknowledge the fact that I have no idea. Confused yet?

Sigh... my weekend was spent completely without homework. I set it aside but I have to go back to it now. BOO.

Rest in peace, Tito Nap. Your memory will forever be in our hearts. Krizel is strong. I admire her strength.

"God is love. He who dwelleth in love, dwelleth in God, and God in Him"

I looked up at the ceiling of the chapel on Good Friday and saw that quote. The funeral mass was packed. We ended up spending a majority of our time standing outside in the rain... so many people came to pay their respects. The enormous amount of people who showed up on Friday and Saturday reflects how loved he was... he lived in God and God lives in Him.

This is gonna be random but I find it weird how we still associate people by the year that they graduated elementary school. So many people from IHM"s class of 98 were present and even if we didn't remember their names, we remembered the year that they graduated. It was nice seeing familiar faces though. It was a mini reunion of about 10 of my IHM "2001" friends. Even my sixth grade teacher was there.

On Saturday I went to Glendale Galleria with my mom and then we went to Jollibee at the Eagle Rock Plaza and then on our way into Target I saw my grade school bully and I dodged her. Ugh she still haunts me even after we've left IHM.

This was a weird entry. I'm sorry but at least you can read it!

I am a Vista ninja... it's better to be safe than sorry.

Last night around 1:30
roger (opens the door): ohh hey anna
me: hi :-roger: so what classes do you have tomorrow?
me: i dunno, i'm going home tomorrow
roger: oh what time are you coming back
me: maybe never
roger (closes door).

My work's piled up and I don't want to do it. I managed to do my discovery task yesterday. I have no idea how.

I went to Holy Thursday mass & adoration last night. It's totally different than a mass at church because of the personal setting and it was shorter than I had expected. Whenever I go to my parish for Holy Thursday mass, we end up leaving like 3-4 hours after we arrived. Well, maybe that's sort of an exaggeration.

Last night was a fun night with vista. I missed them. I don't know why everyone's been so busy lately. It's only week 2 (going on 3). We had some funny conversations in the most spacious dorm room in vista aka mine and bernie's! Too bad everyone's all suspicious of each other because of Vista ninja. The word of the week that I'm not supposed to say is a color that starts with the letter O... it's the color of the "publish post" button on blogger haha.

Sigh. I'm going home today and I'm actually excited about it even though it's a weekend of mourning for the most part. Tonight we're gonna try to make it to the viewing. Tomorrow is the funeral service. But I think I just need to be at home. I'm tired. I need to rest up.

I'm trying to think of entertaining stories but I can't.

Sunday = Easter = new comments and adding friend sprees. yay for myspace and facebook.

Another consecutive day of blogging. Everyone else should blog too. PLEASE?! Well actually I'm glad that I get to go on myspace and facebook now because then I won't be so reliant on reading people's blogs. Blogs & AIM are almost, if not, as bad as myspace and facebook.

EiRepRIDE247 (12:12:18 PM): its been entirely too long since we've hung out
EiRepRIDE247 (12:12:23 PM): i get back may 9
EiRepRIDE247 (12:12:31 PM): and what am i gonna do?
EiRepRIDE247 (12:12:39 PM): im gonna come visit u in irvine
EiRepRIDE247 (12:12:41 PM): thats what

Caitlin's on summer vacation soon. Boo! We're barely starting week 3. Sigh.

Only 9 more weeks...
* living in Vista
* being a first year
* taking Humcore
* eating at Brandywine (I'll miss the chocolate chip cookies on Mondays, the strawberry shortcake ice cream on Wednesdays and sometimes Thursdays, the onion rings on Thursdays, the clam chowder on Fridays, etc) and commons and pippins
* for hall dinners
* and there's probably a lot more but I can't remember them right now.

I wanted to blog before I continue with my tedious homework. I like resolutions and reconciliations and everything else that brings closure. They make me feel happy and relieved :) Unconditional love... what a concept.

So anyway, my new kids on the block alarm woke me up around 9:30 am so I looked at my phone and looked over at Bernie, who has a class at 9:30 and was still sleeping. I immediately told her that it was 9:30 and asked if she had class. And the next thing you know, she's all dressed up and running out of the door. What a way to start the day. She's a trooper for not giving up immediately and ditching it.

It's Holy Thursday today! I've grown so used to going to mass with my family during holy week. It's definitely an adjustment being in school during holy week and having to go to mass on my own. But it's an experience that I've been willing to try.

What else... oh yesterday I ate with the hall, kinda like a hall dinner but not really. It reminded me of first quarter all over again except this time we knew everyone. HALL SWEATSHIRTS ARE COMING SOON! I'm excited.

Speaking of excited, I'm excited but really scared for my life tomorrow. People are gonna be ninja'ing hardcore... you know what that means...everyone's gonna be carrying around socks or whatever. I'm pretty sure that the hall socializing will be kept to a minimum...there are some people out there who have been assigned to ninja their closest friends. I guess that puts an end to my "where I am located/gonna be" today away messages. You never know who's gonna read them. I especially don't want to be chased all the way to class. If I get killed the first week... I won't be that sad because Bernie's gonna try really hard to win (and that means ROOM UPGRADE prize). She gets to ninja easy people, no fair.

Thanks for all those who are praying for my friends and family right now. I really appreciate it and I'm sure they do too.

Tomorrow I'm going home early to hopefully make it to Tito Nap's viewing. Well I'm going home right after class. These trips home are starting to become more and more like trips to the past. I know a lot of my elementary school friends are gonna be there tomorrow. A few of them have been calling me lately and I don't know... it's just comforting to see that some of these friendships can withstand the test of time (is that the right phrase? I have no idea).

I also have no idea why I blog everyday. I like new entries. I also like avoiding homework but I need to do it right now. See ya later.

It's coming...
Friday, April 14, 2006:

Operation: Vista Ninja! aka Assassins aka doomsday
The Game
Use your ninja ways to eliminate the person ABOVE you on the "PLAYERS" list,
but be careful because the person below you is out to Ninja you! Keep moving
up the list every time you "ninja" someone, if you reach the top of the list, move down
to the bottom. There must be a witness for every "ninja" attack!
Eliminate players by:
* "Ninja sock" them by hitting them with a rolled up sock, but if you hit them in the head, you're out of the game and disqualified!
* Putting "ninja salt" in their drink in Commons
* Getting them to say the "ninja word of the week"-which will be posted on Kenny's door every week!
Stay safe by:
* "Safety zones"- no "ninja sock" in the hall or in Commons, but the "ninja word" still applies.
* "Ninja safety cry"- if you see your ninja out for you, immediately sit on the ground, make a "V" with your arms, and say, "I am a Vista Ninja!"- You are safe for 1 hour.

The list of players (excluding many of them) :
Victor (who I have to kill)
Anna
Roger (who has to kill me)

...so let's just say I'm screwed.

Roger just passed by our dorm (he's always in our suite), and said, "Anna, I'm gonna get you so bad... I have my sock ready"

SCARY!

* It never occurred to me that people actually read my blog.
* Bellamay is a hero. She saved my life yesterday.
* I have bad math skills...hence, my inability to calculate how many more days till Easter.
* I can ALMOST go on facebook and myspace!
* I have A LOT of reading to catch up on.
* I'm going home this weekend!...possible IHM reunion
* Yesterday at mass, Deacon Ben said, "Intimacy" and "Intimidation" come from the same root word... unless I misunderstood, which I probably did.
* "Don't let fear keep you from knowing God."
* 5ive, *N Sync, & BSB
* Why am I feeling lazy this quarter?
* Long day ahead of me
* Don't you hate it when you get so emotional and you end up saying something you didn't mean and then feel really bad afterwards?
* Collapsing of binary words (yeah...random)
* "Jesus is the super-child, we're adopted"--some girl in my humcore dis said this about our parent/offspring relationship to Him
* I need to think before I speak
* I don't want to go to school
* Please pray for my aunt who's really sick right now :(
* I think I've been neglecting certain areas of my life lately and that needs to be changed
* Achieving balance is hard
* Prayers for this week please.
* The garlic bread at Ray's pizza is pretty good
* Janette tried to "danger"/ scare me...it didn't work. I'm undangerable lol.
* More randomness after class...

Suddenly this growing up thing has become all too real. Even though I've been in college for 2 quarters, I've only recently started feeling like I'm in college. I don't know if it's because my classes this quarter are a little more challenging or because my friends, some of whom I've known since kindergarten, and I have been experiencing our own dilemmas (significant or trivial) or because I know that I'm only 9 or so weeks away from the end of my freshman year. Whatever it is, it's hitting me hard.

Today so far has been quite the struggle...staying awake has been hard. I woke up today to a text message from my elementary school friend Joey and unfortunately it wasn't a happy one. I don't even know how to approach this or if anything I say will make her feel any better. All I know is that Tito Nap is in a better place. I remember him so vividly dancing the night away with her at her debut and I remember how devoted he was to his family and how contagious his sense of humor was, and how hospitable he was to us as grade schoolers whenever we'd stay over at her house. Please keep my friend Krizel and her family in your prayers as they go through this difficult time.

Humcore was interesting. The discussion revolved around, not the text itself, but our individual reactions to what we were reading. This quarter, humcore actually feels like a college level class. I have trouble detaching what I was raised to believe from the way I'm approaching the text. it's hard to solely look at it from a literary viewpoint. I need help.

Spirit Rally on Saturday was amazing! I can't even begin to explain how awesome it was. So I'll let these few sentences speak for themselves.

I have one more class left and then I'm going to eat dinner and go to sleep. I'm tired and
I DON'T HATE YOU. Thanks bye.

It is no use to grumble and complain;

Courage is resistance to fear, mastery of fear -- not absence of fear. ~Mark Twain

Don't limit God's ability to do by your capacity to receive. ~Randall D. Worley

Be not afraid.

Along with positive thinking, I thought I'd put up some quotes to get me through the rest of this week. The weather is SOOO weird!!! One more class and then I'm done for the day! YAY!

It's as though the first two quarters have been leading me up to this final quarter, where I feel like I'm about to confront even more obstacles and challenges. Be not afraid. It's time to finally live my life without letting fear hinder my progress. But it's so difficult when it's something that I've been struggling with for a while. Longer blog entry next time. I'm gonna rest up before I have to go to class.

Forget the long blog entry. I'm lazy. YAY for no classes tomorrow :) boo for my ankle/foot /muscle/joint thing... it hurts...even more after we walked back to mesa. YUCK. I hope the slight pain goes away soon. I had a really long talk with my friend Kim from high school. I like the catching up conversations. They make me smile. She's a living saint and I'm not even joking. She's one of the nicest, if not the nicest person you will ever meet in your life. I wrote my LMU college application essay about her. I hope she can make it to Spirit Rally on Saturday, God willing. Hmm... I'm hungry! Annnnnnnnddddd that's it.

Oh yeah! P.S. Kim told me, "Anna you're improving. I haven't heard you say a single negative thing about yourself this entire time!" yay for me!

Look at the moody weather (and the reflection of our room on the left part of the picture I took on my camera phone). This is not an attempt at being emo. In fact, this picture is the truth! It was dark and then all of a sudden the sun shined (shone?) brightly and the light seeped through our closed curtains and before you knew it, the sun was out and the sky was still a bit dark and it started drizzling. This weather can't make up its mind.

...like Ice Cube's song haha. I'm tired (fyi that was not whining, that was a statement). I've been up since 8, functioning on an okay 6 hours of sleep, going to class since 9 and running on an eggo waffle for breakfast and some chicken for lunch. Avi says I should be taking a nap but I just can't. Once I'm awake, I can't go back to sleep for just an hour; I need a full night's rest. Overexertion's a habit. So far, I actually like my classes.

Despite the random drizzle, I actually liked today. This optimism thing goes a long way. I mean, sure I got the same amount of sleep as I did yesterday but for some reason a positive attitude does wonders. It really does. I can't believe how ignorant I've been to the power of positive thinking. I should try it more often.

It's amazing how much a smile or a "hello" or a hug or a seeing a familiar face can brighten up your day. I ran into a couple of people today that I hadn't seen in a while and it made me happy :) I also like having classes with new people, especially with people from my hall because it presents the rare opportunity of getting to know someone you haven't really talked to beyond the "hi how are you" level.

For every low point, there's a high one. Although I didn't get as much sleep as I planned on getting, I didn't oversleep and had enough time to eat breakfast and get ready for class. Although I couldn't eat at brandywine, I was able to eat lunch with my hallmates, which is something I haven't done in a long time. Although I've had non stop classes today, I have no classes to deal with tomorrow. Although my feet hurt from all the walking, I got some exercise. SEE! haha... I could continue with the "although's" but I think you get the picture.

This quarter's humcore lectures and texts have a lot to do with religion. This is gonna be interesting. I was used to talking about religion openly in high school because most people shared the same beliefs as I had or similar ones. But now, it's different. Today we had to do a diagnostic of our writing abilities. The question was, "What do you think about the varying attitudes of UCI students towards religion?" or something to that extent. Writing about religion in my humcore discussion class was like bringing together two different aspects of my life that haven't come face to face with one another since senior year. I didn't know how to begin writing and that usually doesn't happen to me. I can already tell that a lot of things this quarter are going to be challenging...but rewarding in the long run.

So, I did it! I lived one full day "wearing rose-colored lenses" and looking on the bright side. It worked. I actually can say with full confidence that "it was a good day." Sure there were some bouts of intimidation and fear... if only I could detach my hip hop cinema class from the title "upper-division" lol. But at no point in the day did I say, "I can't do it" or "this class sucks" or "i hate it." Aren't you proud of me? I am definitely proud of myself. I will try and continue this streak of optimism. I need to in order to survive the quarter haha. Yes is a much more pleasing word than no.

To top it all off... I went to late night at brandywine today and they had CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES! So good. Life is good. I hope I don't jinx it and have a horrible rest of the week.
Actually I take that back...I WON'T! There's the optimism at work!

Taken from Kristina:
"Finish every day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt have crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a n e w day; begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be cumbered with your old nonsense. This day is all that is good and fair. It is too dear, with its hopes and invitations, to waste a moment on yesterdays."

I forgot the title of the movie that I got my blog entry title from. I'm feeling "bleh"...or better yet, lethargic. I don't think I should be feeling this way before starting a new quarter. I'm supposed to feel rejuvenated and refreshed but I don't. A possible explanation for this would be that I couldn't sleep last night so I slept around 2 and woke up around 7 because my dad insists on going to the eight o clock mass every Sunday. Ah. I should be sleeping right now but I feel like blogging instead.

Here's an old entry from my junior year of high school(disregard the grammatical errors):
Post written on Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2004, @ 12:41 p.m..
"...Not that I don't have my own life, but often times I neglect it because I do isolate myself, not purposely. Many times I haven't had as much faith in myself as others have of me. Some people even dare to place me on a pedestal as though I were some model figure of the perfect daughter, student, or just person in general. I, on the other hand, am my worst critic and I overanalyze about every part of my life. Not many people see that from the outside. But I'm human, I have flaws and I often find myself dwelling more on my bad qualities than appreciating my good ones. I could go on and on about this but I won't do that because I do recognize my self-worth. Sometimes I just wish I'd be more open to the unexplored parts of my life and I wish I had a lot more trust in my own capabilities. I wish that I wasn't so afraid about everything, maybe then I could live life to its fullest extent. It was only during my c0nfirmation retreat last year that I realized that I am a stronger person than I ever thought I was, Lora always gave me that boost of confidence, in fact I don't think I would've had this renewed sense of confidence if Lora hadn't shared with me the words of encouragement that she did. She probably gave me one of the greatest gifts in the world and helped me see the many opportunities that were and still are waiting for me. All I need to do is reach for them. Though it seems that every time I aim for the sky , I stop midway because I inflict upon myself the burden of doubt, I become hesitant because I stop to think, about how my actions are affecting other people, about the consequences, about what might happen to me, about how I'll change, about how much more there is to do. I need to stop thinking so much and just take things as they come, right? Easier said than done."

It's disturbing to see just how relevant this entry is to me 2 years later. It wouldn't have been as disappointing if I could just look back and deny every word I said and say that I'm NOT like that anymore...but there is that part of me that still resembles that sixteen year old, whether or not I choose to acknowledge it. The solution lies in changing it. Lent's about mending the broken parts of you... rebuilding yourself. The problem is that it requires being vulnerable...something that I usually steer clear of. Allowing Him to see who you are... that's tough. Penting things up and hiding from what you're afraid of is the safe route, the short cut. And I realize that I can't always take the easy way out because instead of getting rid of what's bothering me, I end up only momentarily escaping it. How else can I explain why I still struggle with some of the same things that I struggled with as a junior in high school?

How ironic is it that I find the answer to my own question in another one of my old blog entries...
Post written on Monday, Jul. 12, 2004, @ 3:44 p.m..
Fear is not something to be overcome, rather it's something to be dealt with. It reminded me that a person can't experience the fullness of their lives by constantly avoiding what one's afraid of. Dealing with fear doesn't mean that you're eliminating it. It just means you're learning to live with it without letting it take over your life.

Wise words from the sixteen year old Anna :)
And so to conclude this seemingly thought-provoking entry, I resolve to make an effort to trust... as long as people don't keep reminding me about this resolution because it's more effective if I remind myself. New quarter = clean slate. I must think positively, not whine, and be more open, even if it means telling "secrets" I guess; and by secrets, I don't mean the superficial "I have a crush on so and so" or "I hate this person." Don't hold me to it though. There's enough for me to deal with this time around. I have to answer to the challenge...or more importantly, I choose to.

SuperNixon2 (7:18:10 PM): miss anna liza life's all about perspectives
SuperNixon2 (7:18:23 PM): smile and think wow what do i get to learn this quarter

And with that, I begin my last quarter of freshman year.

I'm grateful for friends who break down my walls.
P.S. I want a cookie or some coldstone's ice cream please! That would make me feel a whole lot better. Yeah I couldn't exactly keep this entry serious. Have a great week 1! I shall try.
