The logic of your kind of trust / it amazes me / that someone like you would care enough / to just believe / Your faith in me/ it pulls me through / when there's nothing around / to hold on to / when I fall, when I'm weak / all the strength that I need is your faith baby / your faith in me

Thank you to everyone who's been praying for me lately. Prayers work! He definitely knows what's best for me. I can now put a check mark next to one of my summer goals. I'm working at Forever 21 starting this Thursday. YAY ME! Now, if only I could get my license. Soon enough guys, soon enough. Many good things happen when you least expect them. Unbelievable. I'm happy and incredibly grateful. It's because so many people believe in me, even when I refuse to believe in myself. I gotta work on that self-confidence thing. It's funny though because my mom tells me that I've gained a lot of that this past year and it's because you're helping me along, He's helping me along "fo sho."

"Wake up wake up wake up it's the first of the monthhhh so cash yo checks and get uppp" I love that song.

There are a ton of birthdays today. Happy 19th Birthday Darlene!! Sorry I didn't make it to Morongo but I hope you had a wonderful birthday weekend! Love you! Happy 21st Birthday Rikki!! I miss you cousin! I hope you're enjoying your birthday and that you have lots of fun, you're 21 yay! That rhymed. Happy 17th Birthday Czierhl!! I can't believe you're a senior. It seems like only yesterday when you were a little kindergartener at ihm. I hope you had an awesome day and that all your wishes come true. Yay! And because I highly doubt I'm blogging tomorrow... Happy Birthday Joe!! Hero/family leader. You're 22. That is oooold. But I hope you have a good day!

That whole paragraph was just for birthdays! Wow. Okay as Ice Cube says, "today was a good day"! I couldn't have asked for better company. I got to spend time with my ring sister. She is sooo awesome. Yay! We had a fun adventure. We took the bus from her house to the Vermont/Santa Monica station and then we took the metro to the Union Station and from there we took the gold line to Pasadena. So gangsta. We were roughin' it. hahah. Lots of laughs AND weird people AND awkwardness. Good quality time though.

I think I'm happier now or at least I'm more content with the direction that my summer is going. It has definitely taken a turn for the better. STREAMS OF CONSCIOUSNESS: Everything's going to be okay, twin! :) Trust me. Summer = growth, lots of it. Let's get some prime rib ring sis! haha. Face things head on. Believe in yourself, love yourself. I'm a big kid now. I want to get it over with already! I'm scared. Simple things have the ability to make people smile. Extremely deep dreams! I'm a second year! Unconditional love. I'm beginning to understand..."I never say quite what I mean, I never mean quite what I say" I need to get things off my chest. Finally, my household was a bit shaken up last night but it's nothing that a little time can't fix. Please pray for my family and that He bestows upon us some mutual understanding. Both sides are right and things will get back to normal in no time. Everyone around me is growing. It is crazy but good. Praying for YOU.

P.S. In no way is my working going to affect the updates of my blog, hopefully. I love blogging too much to let it.

"You're the good kind of awkward"_Kristina Yu

Awkward moment of the day, while we were at Pasadena, some weird crazy guy comes up to me and looks directly at me and says, "Never use witchcraft to obtain power." Do I LOOK like a witch?! That was really AWKWARD. Why me? He did tell Kristina something about preserving diesel gas or something but witchcraft? WHY?

I think I am a mean person...and selfish too.

ugh. forgive me.

Aside from that, I don't think I could've survived as an only child because now I'm bored and it's a Friday night. I'm tempted to say something that is probably or almost certainly untrue and I always say it but I said I would stop saying it so I won't. Ugh so while I'm stuck at home watching the disney channel, blogging for the second time in a row, and chatting, my brother is off to the LBC to hit up some hotel with his friends where they will sleep over so that they can go dragon boat racing or something tomorrow...apparently there are 4 cars full of 18 year old boys "rolling" over to LBC right now. Hopefully they're not doing dumb stuff. Double standard, gotta hate it. Oh the joys of being the only girl in a family, especially in a filipino one. My dad doesn't seem too worried about my brother, even though if it was me, we all know he would be frantically trying to call me every minute and give me a lecture about safety and who knows what else. My mom's kinda worried though but I'm not. So is this how it feels like to be a parent? I don't know because I'm not worried.

Okay back to the annoying double standard rule...it doesn't help that a majority of my extended family is made up of guys. I see thirteen out of probably over 20 of my cousins from my dad's side of the family regularly and out of those thirteen cousins, 3 of them are girls including me and most of them are older and are guys so they take on that overprotective role all the time. Ugh frustrating right? Anyway, I'm not jealous of my brother for going out right now. Maybe a little but not completely. It's his post-high school summer, he should live it up...I guess.

So back to me...I don't know haha now I blanked out. I just got a call from an unknown number. I picked it up but they didn't answer. Creepy. It's not like I can call them back either. This is like the one time I got a phone call from prison but I didn't accept it. I don't know anyone in prison. GP says it's normal. I hope so because I don't know a prisoner! How did they get my number anyway? There is a fly in the house. I hope it leaves soon. And this is the first blog post I've made out of pure boredom. Enjoy it. I've never been this bored before... okay maybe I have but not recently.

When you think your life is shattered
And there’s no way to be fixed again
Love heals your heart
At a time you least expected
You’re alive like you have never been
Love heals your heart

Thanks for the song ring sister! I love the lyrics. Anyway I'm feeling better today. I remember when Ate Princess was an 7th grader and I was a 4th grader and she used to baby-sit for me and my brother during one summer. I had a planner, which I didn't use to plan my day. Instead, I passed it around to all my friends so that they could write messages on it. So anyway, she wrote something like "it's all g-double o-d good" or whatever. Those were the GFX days hahaha. Yeah so I guess it IS g-double o-d good. Or it will be soon. I trust that it will. I'm worth it...not only because L'Oreal says so lol. Thanks for listening to me vent. I know it seems like I've been really down in the dumps lately but really, if you disregard my last post, I've been relatively content with life and everything in general. I've moving on up from that "okay" and it makes me happy. I continuously find comfort in Him. Thank You and you.

So many things to do...no time to be lazy. I wonder when I'm going to stop sleeping late and waking up late. Sleeping at 2am and waking up at 11am is the norm for me. I always skip breakfast. It's pretty unhealthy but what can I say? It's summer. I'm scared to take my driving test...incredibly scared. What if I fail? Then I'd have 2 more chances to take it and I need to get it before summer is over. Here goes nothing. And as for the job department, we shall see. I applied to other places too. If nothing happens, I'll just have to look for one during the school year and that might be better because then I'd HOPEFULLY have my license and a car. Yeah, so that's that. I can't imagine me driving though even though I have lots of times but maybe I just can't imagine me driving other people. Uhhhh hahah. uhHhwhOaAaA!

I was just telling Meechy yesterday that it's funny how I say I have a boring life but if you incorporate my emotional life, my life suddenly seems not so boring because my emotions complicate it. Get it? Oh well it's okay if you don't.

I caught up on celebrity stuff yesterday on www.trent.blogspot.com because I haven't gone on there since school ended. I usually killed time by reading that blog. Anyway, it was funny because my friend Joey called me to tell me that Lance was gay and even one of my friends' dads came over to visit my dad and he was like "anna, lance is gay." Not like I liked Lance anyway. His voice was too deep and he was a bad dancer or more like an awkward dancer lol. If I was still a sixth grader and knew that AJ would have a drinking problem, Kevin would leave BSB, Brian would have a kid, Justin would leave Nsync for a solo career, Lance would be gay, Fumanskeeto wouldn't last, Nsync and Backstreet would both eventually stop making music together, and that Britney would marry someone like Kevin Federline, would I have really invested that much time and money into obsessing over them?! Probably not. But we'll never know. Now I have all this boy band memorabilia lying around. Whatever, I'm not ashamed to say that I taped all their appearances on TV and went to their concerts and bought their McDonald's and Burger King collectable items. They made my childhood a happy one HAHAHAH. That sounded so lame. But I had to get it off of my chest. A whole paragraph dedicated to them. So dumb.

Anyway, I wanted to make this a long blog. So the end.

nothing's ever promised tomorrow today / nothing's ever promised tomorrow today / but we'll find a way / and nothing lasts forever but be honest babe, it hurts but it may be the only way

My brother bought Pharrell's album yesterday and I'm listening to it right now. I want the Animaniac's DVD set that Erwin has. We watched disc one last night. I LOVE IT. Wheel of Morality turn turn turn, tell us the lesson that we should learn! The moral of today's story is:

"see you won't even know you hurt sometimes
until you in conversations it comes out in a line"
-"best friend"_pharrell

Well not really but it's MY moral of my story today.

Sometimes you pent certain emotions or feelings inside so much so that you forget you ever felt them. You simply learn to numb yourself... or learn to ignore things that can potentially hurt you. Tonight I had a really good but rude awakening and it came while I was talking to my mom. It didn't start out as a serious conversation until my mom told me something that made me realize how insensitive I was being...not insensitive towards others but insensitive towards myself and MY well-being. I think today I finally uncovered some of the reasons why I've been feeling just "okay" and not "great." Fear builds walls and love tears them down. My mom's concern for me, her love for me, helped me discover what I've been doing wrong these past couple of months or even this past year. What's funny is that I've been pointing out how certain people have been blind about things, when in reality, so have I. "Love yourself, you deserve better than this." I know. If I had to answer that question last night about what your flaws are... it would be that I'm so concerned about pleasing other people that I do tend to neglect myself. I'm willing to put myself under situations that belittle my self-worth or that I don't need to subject myself to. Vague huh. Anyway, I guess what I'm trying to say is that I'm going to stop trying. I'm going to let go. FINALLY. My mom's right. If you love something let it go, if it comes back it's yours. I never liked that idea. I cling so much to the people that I love, especially once I feel that my grasp of that relationship is loosening or when I feel it's falling apart. I don't want to take the chance of finding out whether that friendship is true or not so I hold on...sometimes too tightly that it becomes a one way street instead of the two way street that a friendship is supposed to be. Meechy pointed out to me awhile ago how much of myself I invest in my friendships... sometimes too much...which can be unhealthy. She's right. Let go and let God. I've been hurting all this time but I never knew it. Thanks to my mom for helping me see things more clearly.

"They say people in your life are seasons,
And anything that happens is for a reason"

So to everyone who's been wondering how I've REALLY been doing. There's your answer. I'm sorry that it is emo. I'm not emo. That's just the way I feel at this moment. So I'm sorry that's not a superficial entry. I feel like some weight has been taken off of my shoulders now. It's good. I'm almost there too. Uhhh. My interview today was pretty good. We will see what happens. It's okay if I don't get it because there are a ton of other opportunities that are waiting for me and I just have to go out and find them. I guess I'll end this entry with pictures...of yan yan! I got Yan Yan at the seafood market and yan yan is totally different now! They have messages on them! Weird ones that include: "Squirrel...your best friend", "Panda...go for more", "Stag Beetle...love it"...Okay just see for yourself lol.

Three little birds sat on my window and they told me I don't need to worry / summer came like cinnamon so sweet

So Corinne Bailey Rae's album is my newest favorite album ever... or for this week or month or maybe even this summer. But I think it's really good. I'm listening to it again right now! yay! I say yay a lot. I noticed that Brenda Song from The Suite Life of Zack and Cody says "yay me" all the time. That is all. I know this is random. I've missed blogging so much. Never will I attempt to do that again, unless I'm really busy or something and then I'd definitely not be able to blog. But I can so whatever. This just might be a long entry. Sorry in advance GP (since he doesn't like reading entire entries especially if they're long and uninteresting). We will see. I had a lot to say this past week but I was dumb and didn't type them in a draft so now I'm just going by my flawed memory.

My attention span this summer has worsened. Someone will tell me something and then a day or even an hour later, I'll ask them to repeat themselves or ask them the same question. Yuck. I'm not supposed to be this forgetful at this age. I think my head is literally (borrowing from the title of kathy's livejournal) in the clouds. I find myself daydreaming about nothing in particular... I gaze off and just think. It's not even about important or big stuff, just about random things like what I just watched on TV or what I ate or what I'm gonna do that day or the future or school or anything that comes to mind really. Now I'm off on a tangent.

The past week was pretty eventful but now I can't even remember the events. It's all a blur. I hung out with Gia, Caitlin, and Kayla last Tuesday at Island's and none other than "the Gal." Gia and I have concluded that that mall is boring. So boring. We walked around a million times trying to think of a reason why we'd loiter around that place when we were thirteen...I guess it's because we'd go there knowing that we'd run into other peers and we'd go for the independence that you experience as a middle schooler shopping without parents. Now it's pointless but it's air-conditioned. And surprise surprise we did run into people we knew. Just when Gia says, "where are the immac people?", we run into a couple of recent 06 graduates outside of Victoria's Secret, where we saw Mel who works there. I miss my old classmates sometimes so it was nice to have lunch with a couple of them. Some things never change.

Oh yes, I had coldstone ice cream TWICE this week. I watched Monster House with the family...the theater was packed and one of those annoying people who constantly make comments throughout the movie was sitting behind us and it was a know-it-all kid. I think my brother wanted to punch him...but not really. He was only a kid. Anyway it was a pretty good movie. What elseeee... oh I ran into some old friends. Some of those encounters were awkward. Ummm...I ate at the souplantation in LA...the very first time I've ever eaten at that souplantation... BTW,thanks for introducing me to that restaurant last yr, Bellamay, Frances, and Erwin.

Oh yeah I practiced driving some more. I hate driving in L.A. I like wide, empty streets. I hate mean drivers and people who cut because they are in a hurry. I am very nice...aka passive in life AND on the road. In conclusion, we should all slow down and be courteous and safe for my sake and yours.

Today at mass, Fr. Kostelnik said to "lighten up and relax and take care of ourselves." If the priest tells you to relax, then you know you should relax. I've been really tense lately and I have no real reason to be. Sometimes I think that I take pleasure in stressing myself out or creating stress for myself... I guess it has the tendency to make my life more interesting than it is; it livens it up? I'm boring. I'm sorry. I also have no friends. Before you get mad at me, I'm just kidding. If you're reading this, you're probably my friend because I don't give strangers my blog address but if you're a stranger, uhhh I don't know what to say... don't stalk me? haha ok thanks.

I'm nocturnal. It's official. It's hard for me to sleep earlier than 1. I slept at 4 on Friday night. Luckily I fell asleep at 12 last night. Not to mention, the HEAT makes everything worse. I heard that yesterday was the highest record temperature ever in years in the LA county...103 in LA and 119 in the valley? GROSS.

I think I make vagueness a part of all my entries now. Thanks a lot Meechy! haha. So let's see...
YAY for good conversations, especially with my ring sister! AHH despite the phone calls and IM's, we so need to hang out soon! Hang in there. You were right this one time but soon it'll be my turn to say "I told you so." She's a kid. A good catch is coming YOUR way. That person clings but you're free. No strings attached is a good thing.

I'm non-confrontational. I should toughen up for future confrontations. Sitting, waiting, wishing... the waiting place. Lighten up. Don't worry, be happy. "Open your eyes, let me show you the light." I am unwritten. I hope you dance. My life is a series of AWKWARD moments. Trust in Him. Everything is going to be okay. I got this. Finding a way to re-light that fire. What if you choose to carry burdens that aren't your own? "Cast all your anxieties on him, for he cares about you." Post-childhood summer?!

"Maybe sometimes, / we've got it wrong but it's alright, the more things seem to change / the more they stay the same, / ooo, don't you hesitate. / girl put your records on, tell me your favorite song, you go ahead let your hair down, / sapphire and faded jeans, / i hope you get your dreams, / just go ahead let your hair down, you're going to find yourself somewhere, somehow"

Please pray for my family, lots of things going on right now, (don't worry they're not bad) but my mom's asking for me to pray extra hard right now for my dad, my brother, and for her, especially her finger, she still has a cast on it. Pray for everyone while you're at it. I'm praying for you.

Thank you Sarah for that awesome blog entry. It is way better than this one :) I can't wait till you come back! I miss you! Actually I miss everyone. The end.

Got this from Ate Princess's myspace!:
"God will never leave you empty, He will replace everything you've lost. If He asks you to put something down, it's because He wants you to pick up something greater..."

Two days ago I set off on a walk and decided that I would not come back until I had prayed for everyone I know or have known. Needless to say it was a long walk and I have forgotten a significant amount of names in my lifetime. I did this all because I decided that my prayer life was sub-par at the moment and when I have a realization like that I take steps to improve it. Sometimes I go for a run, sometimes a bike ride, car rides are cool but that requires having access to a car, but walks slow the pace down and eliminate all the distractions presuming you leave the ipod and all equivalents at home. I guess the reason my prayer suffers sometimes is because I get too caught up in the world and all that’s happening, but God made time so I make time for God. Therefore Anna Liza simple realization about where you are lacking are necessary because with these realizations can come growth.

There are many things in this life that I would chose not to have gone through and still some today I would much prefer a different way for things to be happening, but I am learning to trust that He has better plans. Thus far His plans have been better than mine.

The highest points of our life let us glimpse how great life can be and how awesome our God is while the lowest points are both necessary and good… necessary because at the low times we grow and good because they reveal that in the lowness of our grief, sin, depression, apathy, and despair God is still present and reaching for us. Perchance the only reason we go through experience is so that others can watch us go through the experience and still others can carry us; the ones who watch are the ones we are witnessing to through the hope and love we have and those that carry us are witnessing to us of His love and the hope we find in Him.

He makes us His own. He allows us to glimpse His passion and when we least expect it, He allows us to walk His passion with Him. He allows us to look into His/our mom’s eyes and to have all the skin scraped off our knees. He allows us to be betrayed. He allows us to kneel alone and be abandon by our friends while we are in the garden. All this burns away ourselves and reveals His presence in our lives.

Sometimes you have to get utterly lost; to walk around until you have no idea where you are or where you came from. In this moment while we are lost, He finds us and shows us how it is to find ourselves in Him.

Back in the day (aka high school), I would very seldom use the phrase ‘okay’ when responding how I was, because no matter how bad the moment seemed I reasoned there was an abundance of blessings that outweighed the bad. I would respond with good. I did however sometimes use the word ‘okay,’ and this was when it was really bad and seemed to outweigh everything. I now use okay and alright freely, but back in the day that was my logic and though it seems good and all, I think the ‘how are you?’ phrase demands a different answer than I gave back in the day. An honest response allows for us to be more open. It's okay to be okay.

Sometimes you are the light switch and sometimes you are the light. Think about that.

Anna, there's no doubt that you are growing. =)

PS HAPPY BIRTHDAY CRISTINA MAABA! Cristina was my first friend!

“Growth is the only evidence of life.” -John Henry Cardinal Newman

5 Likewise you that are younger be subject to the elders. Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for "God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble." 6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that in due time he may exalt you. 7 Cast all your anxieties on him, for he cares about you. 8 Be sober, be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking some one to devour. 9 Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same experience of suffering is required of your brotherhood throughout the world. 10 And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, establish, and strengthen you. 11 To him be the dominion for ever and ever. If you'd just trust in me
You know I trust you
We'll do all the things that you've dreamed to do
If you'd just let go
If you'd let your heart go

This is Meechy status hahah. Anyway, I thought I'd blog one more time before I start my week of not blogging. Gia you better blog because this is a huge sacrifice for me! 7 days of no entries. Talking to certain people and looking back on missed opportunities made me realize how I almost ALWAYS live my life with strings attached. I can't let go. My false self dominates in those types of situations. When something incredible happens or when something that potentially could be a diamond in the rough is presented to me, my initial reaction? Shrug it off, avoid it, run away... it can't possibly be meant for you. My head will tell me one thing, usually something so outrageous, erroneous and/or biased and my heart will tell me another. When torn between the two, I'd automatically go with my head because that's the rational thing to do. Gross. I also don't know why I've just been "okay" lately. How am I? Okay. Because that's the truth. That's how I've been feeling. I can't get up enough nerve to say "I'm good" (even though that's grammatically incorrect) or "I'm doing fine" because those would be lies. I'm a bad liar. Every part of my life has been "okay", nothing great, nothing horrible. It's a straight line across the board like this ----- and I guess that's why it's bothering me so much. Actually, I admit there have been up's and down's, quite a couple of them, some of which I don't feel like sharing anyway. But for the most part, that line is fixed and it's my fault because I don't do anything to change it because a huge part of me doesn't want it to. Change and I are not too fond of each other...well change is fond of me but I'm not fond of it. The truth is, I'd much rather watch than partake in the changes. So here I am, sitting, wishing, waiting... HAHA but not really, oh Jack Johnson. When it comes... I dislike rollercoasters... but sometimes I wish for that excitement or adrenaline rush. Why am I being so emo?! YUCK. Make it stop. Okay it will right now.

I'm hoping you'll blog for me this week. I'll email you, you accept it and all will be well! Praying for everyone. Life. Live it up. GP's away message said "Dare to be spontaneous"...that is easier said than done. I'll try... I guess.

7. yay!
Thanks! I'm willing to take that challenge.

Exclamation marks, "loool's", "yays". That is where I get them from.

My turn! For gia:
1. you have one dimple on one cheek. you're a cabbage patch LITERALLY hahah ;) AND you used to TYPE LiKE THiS.
2. i challange you to blog for an entire week and to come visit LA more since you live so far away now.
3. Green... grnqnpny remember? haha and green is the color of Keroppi like your old keroppi backpack.
4. gmta for life! you're always there for me to cheer me up and just listen. you're my partner in crime, especially when it comes to those celebs (Degrassi and BSB) and you make me laugh. thank you.
5. I always tell this story. Anyway, I'll tell it again. So in the third grade Gia moved to IHM from Precious blood and she was in the back of the line and I was in the front of the line and I remember going up to her and asking her for her name but by the time I got to the front of the line I forgot it because it was so long so I had to go and ask her for it again and then I remembered. Also, Day care & "Dear Johnny" Days. fun times.
6. This is the easiest animal question ever! Turtle, hands down. Her 8th grade quote had to do with turtles. She has pet turtles. She's the ultimate turtle fan ever. And a panda because if you think I'm IMMAX... say hello to 4-time Kairos veteran leader hahah.

This is for Eileen:
1. Eileen is a middle school teacher AND a student. How does she manage?
2. I challenge her to hang out with me more since I didn't get to see her as often last year because she worked.
3. I agree with Kirs, yellow! because she is sooo enthusiastic and perky and cheery. And light blue too because she has this calmness about her.
4. I like how we can have good conversations that always go somewhere, none of that awkward silence. I also like how she gives me advice. Her presence in my life constantly reminds me that He is looking out for me through her and the other LOG oldies.
5. I don't remember when we first met exactly but I remember seeing her at meetings and sometimes forgetting she was an alum because of her carefree and childlike spirit. I also remember being in the same car with her for my first homeless outreach :)
6. Eileen reminds me of a puppy or a bunny! Yay!

Are these surveys done? They could be unless you specifically ask me for one. Someone said my blog entry on Wednesday was too long so I'm gonna shorten it today. Fair warning, shorter entries usually become superficial ones. That's fine. I had some good talks today with old high school friends. I love those kinds of conversations and I love catching up. Today was a reminder of how blessed I am. Thank You for all the blessings you've bestowed on me. Lately life has been sinking in and a couple of opportunities have been falling on my lap. I still am deciding what to do about certain things but I trust in Him. At least I'm not going to be homeless and live in Aldrich Park anymore. Bernie and I have an apartment for next year. How crazy is that?! Yay! It's in Berkeley Court. Exciting. Scary. Wow. I'm really growing up now. The summer birthdays have really cemented that idea...Len, Issa, Gia, Darlene, and Gen are all turning or have turned 19 this summer and it makes everything real. Even though 19 is not that old, it's not that young either. Gia's turning 19 on Saturday and I've been 19 for months and we still watch the Disney Channel and talk about it "twolilkidsatheart" for real. Anyway, I'm still looking forward to the rest of this summer, more chances to grow and learn for sure. Thank you for the prayers. I've been praying for you too! Everything is going to be a-okay.

So starting Sunday, I'm going to try not to blog as long as Gia keeps her end of the bargain and blogs...so guest bloggers are welcome, if anyone wants to do it. It's a tough job, I know, but if someone doesn't volunteer, your daily dose of entries from this blog will not happen for a week and we don't want that now do we? Anyway, peace out. Good night! Happy Friday!

Footprints in the Sand
by Mary Stevenson

One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord.
Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.
In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand.
Sometimes there were two sets of footprints,
other times there were one set of footprints.

This bothered me because I noticed
that during the low periods of my life,
when I was suffering from
anguish, sorrow or defeat,
I could see only one set of footprints.

So I said to the Lord,
“You promised me Lord,
that if I followed you,
you would walk with me always.
But I have noticed that during the most trying periods of my life
there have only been one set of footprints in the sand.
Why, when I needed you most, you have not been there for me?”

The Lord replied,
“The times when you have seen only one set of footprints in the sand,
is when I carried you.”

Praying for you!

Light my fire again. My mom reminded me today that everything we do should be lifted up to Him. She told me that by doing so, she's been able to overcome her struggles and trials...and I know she's had her fair share of struggles in her lifetime. On Monday I prayed the rosary for the first time since school and liwanag meetings ended. Like many people, I feel guilty for how inactive I've been faith-wise this summer and I especially feel guilty for the reason I urged myself to pray that night. I prayed because I needed something from Him, I needed Him to give my mom strength. I turned to Him for comfort. It felt like I was solely relying on the rosary for fulfilling my wishes, my needs, my wants because I wanted everything in my life to be alright. I used it as a means of controlling what's around me. I felt like within a matter of weeks, my faith had became something that depended on the convenience of my situations and circumstances. I would pray if I felt like it...which basically translates into praying when I need to or when I want something. I've been so selfish lately. Last night helped me see that. I've been so consumed with what I should be doing, so fixed on what life should be offering me, so focused on what people owe me and as a result, I've been letting my spiritual high slip out of my hands instead of nurturing it or helping it along. Summer's a time of growth but I've been technically hindering that growth. It's depressing. I should keep my eyes on Him and not on me and my problems. I offer You my light. I feel like He's been constantly carrying my crosses while I'm barely even carrying His...or yours. For the remainder of this summer my goal is to be more of a Simon to family and friends. A wise former family leader (Erweirdo) shared with me the importance of growth, especially concerning the transition from being a first year to a second year and told me that it was my turn to go from being served as a first year to serving alongside my fellow brothers and sisters as a second year and I'm gradually beginning to see that. I haven't been offering enough of my heart, which has so much more to give, nor have I been reaching my hand out enough. Those walls of mine that so many friends have broken down...I find myself slowly putting them back up again instead of branching out and helping other people break down their walls (as cliche as that sounds, haha sorry for saying it Meechy!). So, in summary, I need His help in re-lighting that fire within me. I remember Mrs. McGrath, my religion II teacher (yeah sorry for bringing up Immac, this relates to my entry I promise)...she taught us about ministry as being a commitment to serving and she always stressed that during our campus ministry meetings saying that "the word 'minister' comes from the Latin root minus stare which means "to stand less than"; to serve or to help. So I ask that this coming year, I'll learn how to live according to this: to serve in action, example, and especially in love... to be His instrument. It's all for Him.

Okay, enough of the deepness. In contrast to that idea of standing less than...I watched My Super Sweet Sixteen today and it was the episode with those Indian sisters and dude the younger sister Priya was so annoying, she actually had the nerve to tell her older sister (who was pretty annoying too) that she should enter the room last because her older sister was "lesser" than her. Can you believe that?! Ugh. I don't know how those kids turned out like that. All of those girls are the stars of their shows, their parents (who pay for the parties and put up with their children's disrespectful behavior) just fade into the background, basically their consent doesn't matter. It's really gross. The spoiled brat persona that they give off is not something little girls/viewers should imitate. Yes that's all. Too bad that it's an addicting show hahah. Yesterday was fun, it was a mini LOG reunion. I got to sit next to Janice and Mel at Jack in the Box after the meeting. How awesome! Yay for friends. You make me smile. Thank you.

So I hope this entry satisfies your blog-reading appetite in both length and content because I was definitely in a blogging mood. Prayers for everyone.

The middle...that's the newest adventure!

Hey, I'm not a kid anymore
I know it's going to be tough but...

Will you grow with me?

Angie:
1. Angie is popular.
2. I challenge Angie to walk around ring road without seeing someone you know or someone who knows you.
3. When I think of Angie I think of White... like a polar bear!
4. She's popular, funny, and cool. Need I say more? haha.
5. Well, since I didn't go to the first LOG meetings, I first SAW Angie at the first Kaba meeting and she was dressed like an adult with glasses and her hair up like a teacher. I guess it was part of a skit and she spoke fobby. I remember thinking she was really funny. And then the first time I went to LOG, I saw her in the front again and I was like
wow she's in this club too and she had a guitar with her which made her seem extra talented haha.
6. You remind me of a PANDA and a polar bear!

Toni:
1. Toni likes Degrassi.
2. I challenge Toni to go to Canada with me and meet the kids of Degrassi! Yes!!! (next 09 outing lol jk).
3. When I think of Toni I think of magenta or bright blue.
4. She's really approachable and easy to talk to. She's awkward too so I never feel awkward when I'm around Toni.
5. It was the meeting before winter quarter potluck I think and she introduced herself and had the same corny fact that I had about liking degrassi!
6. You remind me of a puppy or a koala!!

Melissa:
1. Melissa is OG... such a gangsta.
2. I challenge Melissa to emcee or something along those lines. She's such a hip hop head hahah
3. I think of purple or blue when I think of Melissa!
4. She's an awesome person to talk to about music, tv, pop culture, or anything really. She's also really nice...one time she took time out of her schedule to walk me to NACS in the humanities bldg because I didn’t know where it was!
5. I don't really remember when we FIRST met. I remember seeing her and talking to her during one of the BC practices because she was really friendly but I don't think she remembers that. I think I talked to her about not knowing the songs hahah.
6. Hmmm... I guess Melissa reminds me of a bird! lol I seriously don't like this question.

Dean:
1. Dean is the governor and he pokes people on facebook.
2. I challenge Dean to actually bake cookies for me instead of cheating and getting them from brandywine AND I challenge him to stop poking people.
3. I think of blue and black when I think of Dean, probably because they're his xanga colors hahah.
4. He's cool sometimes even though he makes fun of me and I guess some of his jokes are funny. OH and one time he sent a good luck text message that woke me up for a final that I could've missed. Good job!
5. I don't know when I first met Dean. I remember people telling me about him because he was allergic to peanuts too. Oh yeah I remember seeing him the first time I went to a noon mass with Bernie. Awkwarddd.
6. Uhh...I don't know what Dean reminds me of! A dog? hahah.

Erwin:
1. Erwin's a rapper named Erweirdo..."where I'm gonna goooo what I'm gonna doooo"
2. I challenge Erwin to freestyle AND dance...not DDR. I also challenge him to stop buying new shoes! Just kidding lol.
3. The color blue reminds me of Erwin because sometimes he's emo...just kidding again.
4. He was an AWESOMEEE family leader and I will continue to call him that until I graduate. He's a very caring person and always looks out for me even though I know that can be annoying for him sometimes...like when Kathy and I got lost. He's got my back yo!
5. I first met Erwin at the first meeting I went to because that's when they were putting people into families and he introduced himself as my family leader and I thought he was really nice...little did I know... haha ;) I don't mean that. He's still nice even though he caked me on my birthday and trips me sometimes.
6. I'll also say a dog because he's the DAWG HAHAHA. ok I'll stop.

Adrian:
1. Adrian's little brother goes to the elementary school I went to, IHM.
2. I challenge Adrian to go to the summer meetings and ace his summer school classes and finish them soon so that he has more time to hang out.
3. White reminds me of Adrian.
4. Adrian's also nice and very generous. He was willing to drive me to and from both Meechy and Kirs's birthday parties! He's a good listener too!
5. I don't remember when I first met Adrian either but I remember I thought that he was way older than us first years because he sort of gives off that impression. Also, I remember the first time I really got to talk to him was at McDonalds before spirit rally. That's when I found out he was from LA and stuff.
6. I don't know! I'll say dog again or some harmless animal that I can't think of right now lol.

YES! I'm done. I guess the survey's done now but YOU have to post it up on your journals too! Thanks!

Erwin is right. Lately I've been replacing my too much computer time for too much TV time and that's okay with me. I watched so much MTV and Disney channel and The-N yesterday AND today. There's this new show on MTV called "Why Can't I Be You?" and it makes me laugh. So basically a person wants to be someone else, someone completely different from himself or herself and follows that person around and takes on that person's life, technically. I think I saw four episodes yesterday... actually I know I did because there was this one awkward guy who worked at a movie theater and he asked one of his former, cooler, star baseball player high school classmates if he could be like him. Then there was the cheerleader who wanted to be like the goth, punk rock girl because she wanted to stop being "plastic." Then there was a new girl who was kind of a tomboy and she wanted to be like her outgoing, partying neighbor from across the street. The last episode was about a waiter who wanted to be like one of the customers at the restaurant he worked at because the customer was a ladies' man I guess. That episode had clips from Griffith Park. Pretty cool. Why am I blogging about TV? I don't know. Some shows are just too addicting like Super Sweet 16 and Made! Wow. On July 28th, Disney Channel's gonna have a mash-up show called "That's so Suite Life of Hannah Montana." I am so gonna watch it. Okay that's all.

So many shows are about self-transformation or self-improvement or promote that idea of changing yourself in order to either be like someone else or to find what you believe is a "better" you. I remember my friends and I would joke about being made into something that is so completely the opposite of who we are. I don't know if I'd really do it. If anything, I'd do it for the sake of challenging myself and not for the sake of becoming someone else. When you think about it, the most rewarding part of the whole process is growth. When you see the progress you've made and the newfound confidence you've gained, the entire journey becomes worth it. Maybe we're all being MADE right now and we don't even know it. Or maybe I just wanted to make this entry sound less superficial than it really is hahah. Yeah that's probably true. Maybe we should stop trying to be more like each other and instead try to be more like Him. Yes. Good idea.

I had a weird dream yesterday but I guess I'll blog about it on Bellamay's dream blog. I have nothing else to say! Except yay for this Saturday! It's Gpang's birthday! That kind of rhymed. Okay till next time!

P.S. Can you PLEASE pray for my mom?! She injured her hand cause she was trying to close the broken bathroom window and it crushed her finger and her pinky finger was bleeding A LOT! I couldn't look at it. Blood grosses me out. Anyway she had to go to the doctor. Usually my mom just brushes stuff off because she's strong and handles pain really well but this time she was crying because it hurt that much. So please pray for her! Thanks! It means a lot to me. Good night!

This one's for Kathee...because she left me a comment too.
Kathee:
1. Kathee is awkward (but so am I!)
2. I challenge Kathee to a game of awkward moments?! I don't know. I have a feeling we played that before during Bellamay's birthday. As far as I'm concerned, we were pretty much tied.
3. Yellow reminds me of Kathee because she's so bright and cheery! haha
4. I like Kathee's sense of humor and how she makes everyone feel welcome and NOT awkward. I also like how easy it is to talk to her and I like her comebacks. Yay Kathee!
5. My first clearest memory of Kathee was that time I rode home with Frances and Bellamay and her and she and Frances said they were freshmen and I believed them until she asked me if I was an ICS major because she was an ICS major. She was a hardcore ICS major endorser lol. And then I thought whoa she must be really good at math and stuff. ALSO that one time she sat next to me and Kathy and started making jokes about hibernation. That was funny.
6. You remind me of a BEAR! Because everyone else calls you Kathee bear... or the oldies do! so it fits.
7. If I do this, you must post this in your journal.

Hey the offer still stands! Leave a comment, you get a response! A QUICK ONE! I'm fast and then of course you have to post it on your journal please? Thanks. I knew you would.
1. I'll respond with something random about you.
2. I'll challenge you to try something.
3. I'll pick a color that I associate with you.
4. I'll tell you something I like about you.
5. I'll tell you my first/clearest memory of you.
6. I'll tell you what animal you remind me of.
7. If I do this, you must post this in your journal.

I walked to church today. I picked the wrong shoes. My feet hurt. It felt like I was walking from Mesa to Interfaith except the streets were dirtier, there were more people walking AND there were traffic lights, which made the walk longer. Anyway I went to IHM and passed by my old friend Josh on the way there. We always see familiar faces at that church. After mass I ate at a filipino restaurant near my house and then I went home. YAY. I'm stranded here today. I want my license already. Ugh. No 13 hours of sleep for me last night...it was more like 5 and a half. I need to get my sleeping habits fixed really soon.

When one door closes, another one opens. Real love = sacrifice. Be a childlike grown-up. Shedding your false self to achieve intimacy and better friendships, not as easy as you think. I miss my friends...IHM friends included! I hope you're okay. Here I am. Yes.

Music up, windows down, rims on, bling-bling
it's a weekend thing

If you thought my survey was dumb, you're gonna be jealous now because these three lucky people get responses from me. HA! Because I think this is how the survey is supposed to work. If you left me a comment, you get a response and then I guess you have to post the survey on your blog and I post a comment on it and you leave a response for me. Get it? Got it? Good.

Abby:
1. Abby dislikes balloon lady know-it-alls who call her dumb (so do I).
2. I challenge you to go to summer meetings so that I can hang out with you more!
3. When I think of Abby I think of pink!
4. Your smile is contagious! When you smile, I smile, everybody smiles. Not to mention your perkiness and enthusiasm about everything. You’re awesome Abby.
5. I remember standing next to her during one of the winter quarter meetings when we were singing praise and worship songs and she was kind of quiet but then once we started laughing about the action song moves that broke the ice.
6. This question is weird. Uhh…a bunny rabbit? Because bunny rabbits are cute lol. Wow such a deep explanation.
7. If I do this, you must post this in your journal.

Kirs:
1. Kirs loves Nsync…AND “I get the feeling sometimes it makes me wonder” ugh gross.
2. I challenge Kirs to stop being so cool!! HAHAHA.
3. When I think of Kirs, I think of teal… maybe because of your xanga, who knows?!
4. I like how Kirs is so cool and even though she’s cool, she doesn’t mind saying hi to me. I also like how she talks to me like an equal and not like I’m younger than her.
5. I don’t remember the first time I officially met her but I remember seeing her during one of the 3 benefit concert practices and thinking she was a third year because she was so comfortable with everyone and confident… I remember her dancing hahaha and then I remember having biodiversity with her during winter quarter and she wouldn’t sit next to me and Brenton because she was so cool that she got to hang out with GP in the booth.
6. I don’t know! I’m gonna just say random things…like a puppy!
7. If I do this, you must post this in your journal.

Frances:
1. Frances’s real name is FQA.
2. I challenge you to a cookie eating contest! Just kidding lol. I challenge you to kidnap me and take me shopping in Ontario! Yay haha.
3. When I think of Frances, I think of dark/royal blue. I don’t know why.
4. My first memory of her was when she was offering to take me home after one of the first meetings with Kathee and then she lied to me about being a freshman like her sister haha.
5. I like how caring and loving Frances is. Whether it comes to her family or her friends, she is always giving of her time and she's always willing to listen.
6. You remind me of… a puppy? Haha. I don’t know.
7. If I do this, you must post this in your journal.

Because Meechy left a comment on my entry the first time I posted the survey:
Meechy:
1. She's secretively surprisingly and surprisingly secretive.
2. I challenge you to "break down your walls" and take off your mask hahaha. I challenge you to stop being so popular.
3. When I think of Meechy, I think of pink and white!
4. My first memory of Meechy is seeing her in the IH yearbook my freshman year but I remember hearing about her from my Ate Princess before. The first time I really met her was at mass on the plaza and she was wearing her ring and she and Cristina and Janice told me and Bernie to go to a LOG meeting.
5. I like how trustworthy Meechy is. You can tell her anything and not have to worry about her telling anyone else. Plus she's an awesome listener and advice giver. She has a way with words.
6. She reminds me of A PANDA! YES! hahaha

First of all ..."hit the playas club" WHO AM I?!? I don't even know anymore. I bought a cool new panda shirt yesterday. It is AWESOME. I also bought shorts and a polka dotted skirt. Even more awesome. I slept at 10 o clock last night and woke up at 11 this morning. Wow. 13 hours of sleep. Aren't you proud of me? That was the earliest I've slept this entire year I think. Today was spent with me being bored for quite a while. I was on the computer for too long. Around 6 I went driving with my mom. I was near Burbank when my mom turned the AC on and the car started smelling. Then my mom told me to pull over and I did. Lo and behold, smoke was coming out of the back tires. I don't know what happened to it. We then called Triple A around 6:45 and waited and waited until they came to tow our truck back because my mom didn't want to drive it back home. Sooo...I rode home on a TOW TRUCK ahaha. What an experience. It didn't help that the driver was a WEIRDO. He had an accent and talked about finding a wife in Cebu and he drove like he was drunk AND he was like "your car broke down? interesting..." (roll your r's when you read that aloud). I had to hold my laughter and uncomfortableness inside. Luckily we didn't live too far away. Now I'm home, bored once again. Sigh. Alright, now a Meechy type list of things in my head... that I should blog about or expand on but am too lazy to:

- Religion II/LCC and Experiencing God stuff still applies to life:
- Time and knowledge.
- I need to learn how to be a more C.A.R.I.N.G person.
- You can't hurry life.
- In God's time.
- Relax.
- Growing up and growing.
- True self vs. false self.
True self: image of God, unique, real, inner, honest, authentic, child self
False self: mask, role, illusion, barrier, defense, shell
- Balance.
- "Grown-ups never understand anything by themselves, and it is exhausting for children to have to provide explanations over and over again."
- "One sees clearly only with the heart. Anything essential is invisible to the eyes."
- "Language is the source of misunderstandings."

..."all I wanna do is zoom-a-zoom-zoom-zoom and a boom-boom!" hahahaha

WHO AM I?!?! seriously...

Erwin... such a good emcee. HAHA. So much for this week. It went by so quickly even though a majority of it was spent at home or practicing driving. Yusss. I'm waiting to go to the dentist now. I have this huge fear of doctors and dentists, no matter how helpful they are. I don't know. I get scared. Yay. Anyway, I guess the most eventful part of the week was my "spontaneous"/"surprise" visit to Irvine. Thanks Erweirdo for driving me there and back and for lunch and for ice cream and for listening to me vent and for letting me listen to backstreet in the car and for playing your rap. You're awesome for real. Thanks to all the Shawshank residents for letting me sleep over. Thanks to Kathee for the extra Pirates ticket. I had fun. "Arghhh matey" haha jk. Umm thanks GP for encouraging me to be spontaneous. Thanks Bellamay for letting me tag along to lakehouse...what a confusing movie! Thanks Robert for the fatburger dinner! Thanks Frances for breakfast...I'm glad I finally saw you after 3 weeks! Thanks Liwanag for hanging out with me...even if you were probably like why is she here? but that's okay lol. Thank you thank you thank You!!!! I'm really sleepy. Erwin woke me up by playing "The Message" GROSS WAKE UP CALL. I cannot wait until Tuesday. It's a might...it's a maybe. Jack Johnson is 99.9% wrong usually so let's just say it's practically a yes. Hardcore praise and Worship (ACTION SONG) withdrawals! I miss Interfaith. I got through this week because of You. Change has got nothing on You. One call yesterday made me happy and I know it was a reminder that no matter how different things may be, some things never change... or they don't change completely.

Hi, I just want to say thank you for being my friend. I know I don't say it as often as I'd like to, but your love and concern for me is so appreciated. It gets me through the day. I love you and I thank Him for you every day. Word.

That's all. Hey do my survey yeah? Please. I'm gonna give it one more try. I have no clue how to do it still. Sorry I haven't been blogging as often. I know I've disappointed my former fellow consistent bloggers. I'll keep trying. I'm guest blogging for Kathee sooo see ya there. Peace out.

“Change is never easy. You fight to hold on. You fight to let go.”

“Know what's weird? Day by day, nothing seems to change, but pretty soon...everything's different.”

“You hold on to things that were. You wonder what's to come. But that night, I think we knew it was time to let go of what had been, and look ahead to what would be. Other days. New days. Days to come. The thing is, we didn't have to hate each other for getting older. We just had to forgive ourselves... for growing up.”

Distance. What happens when the closest suddenly become the farthest? You know how people say that summer is a time of growth and change? I feel it already. Everything catches up with you. Time catches up with you and you suddenly realize that you’re a different person than you were a year ago or even a few months ago and that the people around you have changed too. You find yourself lingering over how much they’ve changed but you look at yourself and find that you’re guilty of doing the same. Lately I’ve been harboring this resentment towards certain situations and things and I’ve been allowing it to build up inside of me even though I’m well aware of how selfish, unfair and sometimes irrational I’m being. Jealousy is an ugly feeling and victimizing yourself for something that is out of your hands is even uglier. I don’t even know if that makes sense. Ugh this is sounding so emo. I also hate feeling this way. Pity is not my intention; it’s not something I’m seeking. If anything I just want things to go back to the way they were before… So do I sit and wait it out until the feeling of comfort returns or do I cut ties completely and focus on “now” and the “new” or do I confront things head on? For the most part, I’ve been experiencing unnecessary disappointment, frustration, and annoyance. Holding on versus letting go. Neither of the extremes seem too appealing but I’m leaning towards the first option. Someone helped me see how much value I place on certain parts of my life… like my friendships. I cherish them so much that sometimes I get hurt more easily because of my expectations. Maybe I’m being a baby. Maybe I’m being too sensitive. I should brush it off. Embrace the changes or accept and adjust to them. I’m learning to adjust or I’m trying to at least and I hope they do the same for me. What a two way street. I found this quote on an index card ring of friendship quotes that Gia gave me for my 15th birthday…

"Friendship is always a sweet responsibility, never an opportunity." - Kahil Gibran

So true. So for now, I’ll be patient, take the safe route, and pretend (as unhealthy as that sounds).

It’s worth a shot because you’re worth it. He’s worth it.

I see Him in them.

Thank you!

Listen to our own advice, easier said than done.

Laughter is the greatest gift in the world.

The most reassuring part of all of this is that I know that He’s always there when others are not. My friendship with Him this year has continued to amaze me because despite all the changes in my life, He’s the one thing that’s been constant. Spiritual high to spiritual growth… I’m looking forward to it. Second year, here I come. The introduction of more challenges, the continuation of old friendships, the beginning of new ones… this should make for an interesting chapter of my life. So far.

Thizz face.

Yeah, I know it was not your idea of a fun entry. I’m sorry. I had to say it or I would’ve exploded… but not really. Read Angie’s for a funny and more amusing entry. The pictures… yeah they’ll come eventually. My computer’s slow. I hope everyone had a safe 4th of July yesterday. I’m praying for you.

P.S. I’ve been practicing but I’m nowhere near the gas, brake, clip status hahah. Oh the joys of summer.

P.P.S HOLD UP! WAIT A MINUTE! Haha here’s a survey I got from Gia who got it from Erich. Do it please! : ) It would make my day and I’ll love you forever…perhaps. I don’t know exactly how it works but I think you should answer it first and then I’ll return the favor. Yusss. Thanks! Bye!

and I only wanted to be me
but watch even the stars above
things that seem still are still changing...

Happy Birthday Kirs! Why are you so cool?!

I'm mad at myself.
God, Grant me
The serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
Courage to change the things I can,
and Wisdom to know the difference.
Things, even the most miniscule, are taking their toll on me... way more than I'd like for them to.
* I'm a wimp.
* A year makes a difference.
* I wear masks.
* Everything is okay?
* Am I?
* Only You know...why must I act like I do?
* I turn to You.
* Fly away, breakaway
The most rewarding part of all these challenges is that
I'm growing and learning.
too bad that it requires sacrifice and that the cost is bittersweet.
and too bad this sounds emo.

Yeah so I'm still in Riverside at Chua's house. I'm using her computer because it's fast and the rest of them are watching Justice League except for me and RJ who are online. I have huge picture updates/ life updates to do but I'll save them for when I am bored at home, which will be on Monday. Hopefully everyone else is having an eventful summer so far. To summarize today...I woke up pretty early (thanks to Meechy and Erwin for the wake up calls) but we left Riverside at 10 and got to the zoo at 1 something... you do the math. YAY. Ugh. Anyway other than that, the trip was fun and successful. We saw pandas! I'm a happy camper. I think we're gonna play monopoly now sooo peace out :) I miss you!
