I feel like I have this new lease on Life. I think it's partly because of that feeling of renewal & rebirth that Easter brings. It's been an incredibly crazy past couple of weeks and I've learned things that I should've put into practice a long time ago... but it's better late than never & I am determined to make a positive change in my life for the better.
I went to confession for the first time yesterday in what felt like forever but was in actuality about a year or 2. I was hesitant to go even though I wanted to, just because I was concerned about spilling my guts to a priest that knew me. But I don't regret it at all because it brought me the sense of peace that I had been looking for this entire school year. That's where the "better late than never" comes in.
Father told me that I had a caring heart & that I was passionate. I was not expecting that. He also warned me not to apologize for everything I do wrong and instead LEARN from it. (Weird right? A priest telling me not to apologize about my sins during confession?!). When he said that, all of a sudden, everything just clicked for me. The things Brenton had been telling me about, the things that my parents had been telling me about... things I had known all along, suddenly just made SENSE. Why do I put myself in such a negative state? It's not necessary. It's okay for me to care about other people, but not to the point where I stop caring about myself, what I want, and my personal needs. It's okay to say no. It's okay to mess up. I need to brush things off instead of piling more weight onto my shoulders.
On to another point, I've been reading "Why Zebras Don't Have Ulcers", a book that I have to read for my Human Stress class... and I realized how harmful my worrying is to my health. Literally! I can become more susceptible to diseases like Diabetes by stressing about every little thing. There goes another thing I'm trying to work on... not letting things bother me so much.
If you didn't know, my dad's been a bit sick lately. Thanks for the prayers. He's doing better... but his getting sick reminded me that life's not about the insignificant worries or issues. Life's about bigger, more important things like family, friendship, faith, LOVE.
these past two weeks, i've gotten to hang out A LOT than i have the past two quarters. i'm gonna keep it up. my friendships have always been important to me and it's time for me to stop putting them on the backburner.
onto more superficial matters (LOL), i'm staying up to watch my bf on SNL! ZAC! :D i'm so watching 17 again.
speaking of boyfriend, this is cheesy but i miss him even though i saw him twice this week, which is more than usual.
andddd, aside from falling behind on homework & reading, life is GOOD. Praise Him!
thank You for Your sacrifice & Love.
praying for you all.
Happy Easter!
